Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

PLEASE READ EVERYBODY

PLEASE READ EVERYBODY There's just something I really want to say that's been bugging me. Don't get mad at me please.

Please stop putting up threads that are "members only". Some people may really want to do some thread, but the members spots have already been taken. And sometimes, like for the games that are sign up only, some people may really really want to play the games, but they aren't allowed to play it because they didn't sign up. I think everybody should be able to post on any thread they want, regardless if they signed up or not. This is a website where everybody is allowed to put their thoughts out and be themselves and have fun, which might not happen if they can't sign up.

Please don't get mad at me, which is why I'm leaving this anonymous. All of your ideas are great, I just want everyone to have the capability to be a part of it.

I think you make a very good point, Nobody (who is really somebody).

I COMPLETELY agree with you. I was thinking the same exact thing. The only thing I understand in 'members only" defence is if it's a RP, or one of TON's Murder Mysterys, because sometimes it can make things really complicated to add someone into an already established story. I'm not saying that that's always the case, but it's always good idea to ask if it's okay, and most likey they will say yes.

SAME. Sometimes I want to join some things, but by the time I'm going to post "there's a due date and I can't join". It's the CB peeps! The CB is a great place to talk about your favorite fandoms, books, hobbies and just be yourself. I like to think of the CB as a safe haven where a lot of other bookworms like me can hang out and have fun.

I agree, with you, Ivy and Nobody!  The RPs and Murder Mysteries I understand, but things like book clubs and poetry should be open to everyone!  Some people might not be able to commit to something (I think the drop out rate of RPs is about 50% or something), but that doesn't mean they still can't post!

Another thing I think people should be aware of is how it clutters up the Chatterbox when people create a thread for people to sign up for a club thing and then make another thread for the actual thing.  That just creates more threads on the Chatterbox that don't need to be there, and it can be irritating after a while.  If there's an idea that was discussed along with a bunch of other things as well (for example, coming up with an RP in an Instant Chat or just having a brainstorming thread), then it is probably a good idea to create a separate thread, but a thread just for signing up for stuff will just die and is only useful for about a month or so.

YES! I totally agree. I dislike telling people that they can't join because they didn't sign up earlier. Thank you for sayingt this!

Yes!!!!!!!!!! I mean, it's excluding. I did that once but only because only a few people actually wanted to play.

I agree. Although I have joined some of these clubs, I find it rather irritating. Let's take the example of the Poetry Club. A lot of the people on the CB write poetry, right? And so that club is, in a way, saying that the other CBers--the ones who aren't in the club--aren't allowed to share their poetry.

I completely agree. For instance, I think the reason why the song quote guessing game is slowly dying is because not everyone can take place in it. Also, there are too many different threads for signing up, announcements, then the actual thread itself.

Thank you, Nobody, for that very valid and diplomatic point!

Thanks for agreeing with me guys! Since more people agree, I'd like to admit that I am NOBODY. It was late last night, and I felt that then would just be the right time to get it all out, since I was already on the Chatterbox.

Thank you! And yes, I am part of these clubs, but it would be best for everyone to participate.

I'm sorry, everyone, for not keeping my clubs open for everyone. Next time, I will be sure to keep my clubs open to everyone- no more sign up sheets or members only!

I'm sorry you feel like this, Nobody, and I hope to put this as friendly as possible.  Not that I outright disagree or am arguing with you. I'm assuming you're including RPs in this and I'd like to say... these are things that can't include other people because it's an ongoing story and it would be very hard to stick in another character. Decisions about it were made sooner, and in a late stage and can't change just for one person.

If you want to be in some kind of club, you could always start your own, or join one when it comes out. And of course if you'd like to share your thoughts, you can start a new thread.

I hope you aren't angry at me. Not to make this sound mean in the least! It's alright, really, to feel this way. :)

I'm NOBODY, and I didn't mean RPs or the murder mysteries. It's fine to feel that way, your opinion! :)

Well, the RPs don't really count, because they aren't clubs, and since there are so many different stories and RPs, it's not like everyone is left out. If one RP is filled, there is always another one to join. And an excess of characters can get irritating.
