WORDS

WORDS

There are so many words in the world. Have you ever come across THAT ONE weird, questionable word that was just so different it made you stop in your tracks? I know I have. Maybe it was the way the word looked, menacing. Or maybe you like the way it clinks against the roof of your tongue when you say it. Maybe it's the way it's spelled. So what's your favorite word? Or maybe you just want to share a peculiar word you came upon one day....

I myself like Rendezvous, because of the French-ness and the way it's spelled, which means meet at an agreed time and place.

I also like Vacuum, because not a lot of people know that it's spelled with two 'u's. Perhaps it's because the 'u's are sucking you in...

I didn't know it was a song! That's cool! I knew it was the Marine Corps motto from singing their song, though. Thanks, Admins!

Ooh! I have a favorite Latin phrase. It's non iam, which means no longer. It seems kind of like you're resolving to do something, doesn't it? Like all those songs in musicals like Defying Gravity and Let It Go where you kind of say, I no longer care what people think, I'm just going to do what's right/be myself/stand up for myself/etc.

Oddly enough, since it was in your post, 'peculiar' is one of mine. Also 'parsley', 'impeccable', and 'Aardvark'. Isn't Aardvark a weird word? 'Weird' is another one, by the way . . . .

I absolutely love the word whimsy. It sounds cozy and ridiculous and beautiful all at once, and makes me think of wings and feathers, funny little pottery-pieces, and paisley that's dark green and a warm purplish-maroon colour.
