This officially the last thing I will post before I leave.

I need to post this because I need to RANNNTT!!!

RANT. RANT. RANT.

I'm not really angry just..disappointed at my band teachers lack of logic.

SOoooo....

For band our song silent night has a solo throughout the whole song. Me and seven others worked hard for this solo. I was among the top four. Over the past few days in band, we've played with the band, both together and apart. There are two flutists, me included, and two clarinets. Today after class our band teacher called us to talk. He started by saying, "We all know Katie is the doggone player in the band." Everyone agreed. "But Suzie works hard to." Okay, I'm calling the second chair flutist Suzie. He continued to talk about how Suzie takes private lessons, (I do too, but she takes them from our band teacher.)About how she would practice as much as me if she had the time and was a homeschooler.

Right off the bat, he immeditely assumes I have time because I practice an hour a day. I do not, have time. My schedule is worse then hers, I can almost guarantee. I do not have time for flute, I make time because flute is my priority. It is more important to me then sports and basketball. So, then he said, "So she deserves this, because she never gets to solo."

Now THIS. I am so very dissappointed. I will not make it to our next concert, therefore she will get to solo. And no, she does not deserve to solo. Because it was COMPETITION!! He KNEW I would do good, and yet if he was just going to hand it over to Suzie why even bother letting me try!!!!! She can get ALL the solos next quarter!

I feel like he's descriminating me because I 'have more time as a homeschooler.'

I plan to talk to him about this tommorow...Hopefully we can come up with a compromise and split the solo. Because I don't want to go and seem selfish...

In all honesty, I do deserve it...

Peace.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry Katydid! That sounds REALLY annoying! He should let each of you have a solo, or he should let you do a duet. At my school we mostly do trios. 6th graders can do them but 4th and 5th graders can't. I did a trio with two of my friends in a concert 4 days ago. It was really fun, and I know that if it were a solo, I'd be excited but scared stiff. I really hope that you can figure something out and get a solo or duet or something! Just out of curiosity, what song is "Suzie" playing? Do you know yet?

Have to react to one thing before the whole band thing.

PLEASE tell me I misunderstood and your not leaving the CB! PLEASE!

Anyway, thats got to be pretty annoying. I can see your teacher letting her have a solo, but if you are the #1 then why can't he accomodate so that you can have the solo in the concert you can come to, and she has the solo at the concert you can't make it to?

NOOOOOOOOO I hate it when this happens to me! Especially in theatre! Just because someone doesn't get a solo doesn't mean they "don't have time" or anything, but AGGHH!!!!! I'll post more later  :(

I hope you guys figure it out. I posted a message a while ago on one of your threads about a possible book club. I posted under the name Olivia M. I think the book club would be a great idea, but I couldn't find the thread so I couldn't respond. I am still interested in the book club if you want to do it. I'm sorry if I'm being rude, I know this isn't the book section, but I don't know where else to put this comment.

P.S. Are you leaving CB? If you are, I just wanted to say that you are a really friendly, awsome person!!!!!!

@Bibliophile, a good place to put the possible book club thread would be the Blab about Books thread. If you think that one's too crowded or something, I think your next best bet would be Down to Earth and then Pudding's Place.

Argh! That's like saying mice have more time than bears because they don't hibernate! I'm sorry to hear that, Katy, and definitely talk to him!
