One more, this one from Treasure Island by Robert L. Stevenson. It's a very slow and excruciating read, but required for my English course and I do not recommend it.

You're a lad, but you're smart as paint.

-Long John Silver

I have no clue in the slightest what it means.

"smart as paint" means quick-witted, intelligent, imaginative, suchlike.

Admins, do you have any favorite quotes?

Oh yes! Quite a few. Off the top of my head:

"Anything worth doing is worth doing well." My friend Cindy, a talented artist

"When in doubt, wear red." Michelle Kwan, figure skater

"Home is the place, where when you go there they have to take you in." The Death of the Hired Man by Robert Frost (off the top of my head, without checking every word)

Many more from favorite poems, books, and movies.

Ah, so you're the Admin that figure skates?

Oh! And, where is Cricket base or where ever you Admin people work?

Wingnut says niwc.

New York City?

I can do a very few moves, but my main figure skating love is watching competitions. U.S. Nationals starts tomorrow in St. Paul, MN. I'll be watching online. The senior level competition starts on Thursday, January 21. Until then it's the younger skaters. I love watching all I possibly can.

The Cricket editorial office is in Chicago. I work from home in the evening and on weekends.

THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!! Are there tours? Is the building downtown? Northside? South Side? Near the lake? Do you like Lumalnati's pizza? Are you a cubs fan? Did you see The Goodman theatre's A Christmas Carol? Do you like Garret's Popcorn? Have you been to the Harold Washington Library?

Sorry, you don't have to answer all of these questions. If you haven't been to the Harold Washington Library though, you should. they have this area with trees and a wonderful view of the city. It's called the Winter Garden. There's new flavor of Garret's popcorn that's peppemint or some thing. It sounds good. I haven't tried it yet though.

Yes, I've been to the Harold Washington Library. We don't give regularly scheduled tours of the Chicago office. I'm not a diehard baseball fan, but I would be happy to see the Cubs make it to the World series!

---From, A Few Dismal Quotes to Keep You Wishing You'd Never Leaned to Read, By Mortifero, (my AE)

submitted by Micearenice
(January 19, 2016 - 5:52 pm)

This is kind of related, but I think it's more optimistic then Mortifero's quote. (Great title, by the way.)

"Whether you think you can or can't, your right".

- Henry Ford

P.S. This quote was in no way meant to worship Henry Ford. He was an anti-semitist and was awarded a nazi medal of appreciation.

P.S.S. If you haven't guessed already, I'm half Jewish.

P.S.S.S.  I don't go to temple though, I go to church. I'm half Christain.

P.S.S.S.S. It's complicated.

P.S.S.S.S.S. I don't mean to say that Henry Ford was a bad engineer, or even a bad person. I just don't agree with his views.

A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water. -Unknown
