Admins: Suggestions

I have been a member of the chatterbox for numerous years, although for about the past 2 years I have been absent due to school and things. But I am temporarily back on, and I noticed so much has changed and improved. But I wanted to offer some things that might help both new and the original members alike.

One thing I have found somewhat hard to take is that it is very hard to find posts that I have commented on or made myself. Yes, I understand that the more comments a post receives, the higher it goes up on the list. This is indeed very helpful, but I think there should be something... more. Like a login button where you can keep your own account for the chatterbox. On the account page, it can show all your posts from way back when you first joined to now. And another section can show comments you have made on other posts. I think this will help keep things more organized for everyone.

A fun thing that can be added as well, to allow more personalization and creativity for participants is to have profile pictures, which then goes along with a login.

Another suggestion is to have a date sorting button, so you can go back as far as you wish without having to search through numerous pages to find interesting stories and role plays to read and look back upon.

Finally, similar to the date sorting button, I believe CB should have a name search, allowing people to find posts from all their friends. Even if they don't wish to comment, it still allows individuals to look back upon old memories of all the stories, poems, role plays, and other creative things they did.

I love the CB, and it has been an amazing help for getting suggestions in writing over the past years. I also enjoy reading all the stories and role plays, and often participating in them. I would love if you, Admins, can consider some of my ideas to make this an even greater experience for all artists, book nerds, and writers alike. Thank you

Those are all great ideas. It's possible that one day the CB will be updated (completely reworked), but we don't know when that might happpen. There's no tweaking the platform we have now in the ways you suggest. The CB is a little awkward, even quaint, but everybody still manages pretty well with the role plays and discussions.

Thank you, admin. Yes, I do agree that CB has its flaws in terms of organization, but I have called this my home of creativity for years now. The people here have brought so much inspiration and suggestions. As of now, the current platform is, as you said, manageable, and it works for the community we have here. Thanks again.

Like you said, honestly the website is quite manageable, and we CBers have more to worry about at the moment...*sighs*

But thanks  for your concerns, Ashlee.

Micna says ctue. She got her letters mixed up and meant to say cute. She thinks you're wearing a cute shirt right now, Ashlee. That's a bit creepy, MIcna but okay, I understand you're giving her a compliment.

About the account suggestion...no offense Ashlee, HIGHLY disagree with that. It...would make the CB feel less open. That's what I love about the CB, the fact that you can just blog. Besides, there are just so many things you wouldn't be able to do...guessing Ski Lodge creator, SIs, things you want to say anonymously, topping, and just being able to post with a different name field.

Ashlee, as for finding your threads...just bookmark them. Whether you use Chrome or Internet Explorer or whatever, you can bookmark websites and create folders to put them in.

And Admins, in event of the "one day" in which you completely remodel the CB, I think you should first make a thread detailing exactly what you are planning to do, then see how the community feels about it. That way it's more democratic.

No offense taken! As I now think of it, you do have a good point, Owlgirl. I never really thought much of that at the time, losing Ski Lodge, SIs, topping, or just posts you want to be private. So I guess I now disagree with my old view on that. We do need CB open. But there is one thing, and I know it is rare, but there are impersonators. I looked back on an old CB History Book of (sadly) all the CB wars. One was the impersonator war. I read the things done, the actual threads the impersonator was on... Horrible. But even so, the likelihood of that happening again is slim.

Also, how did I never think of bookmarking threads? That would save me so much trouble. I am part of, comment on, or make numerous threads a day. So I should really start doing that.

Again, thank you, Owlgirl. I sometimes need someone to point out the fault in my ideas.

No problem, Ashlee!

And impersonating fortunately hasn't been a problem in a long, long time...the last time I remember was last summer. It only lasted a few days. I think it's best if we don't discuss anymore though.

While your ideas are awesome, Ashlee, I think I want to keep CB as it is. I like its kind of sweet awkwardness, and Owlgirl is right: SIs, anonymous Ski Lodges and a bunch of other things would be impossible with accounts. Pottermore recently updated, and it is so much more modern and sleek. . . but you can't help missing the way it once was.

Reasons Why I'm Against Having Accounts on CB

-S.I.s!!!!!

-AE names!!!!

-RP names!

-Names such as Savvy da Winner when you're posting in a last to post wins thread.

-Tops! Where would Toppy44x go?

-Sometines people don't like sharing who they are especially on advice and problem type threads, so they use names like ... And such. Those would disappear.

-What if you change your name....?

-You know how Mei-Xue used to change her name just a bit every time? What if more people want to do that?

-The extra work for Admins and other workers....

-Also, like Rosebud? I think? said, it just makes CB less open and free.

I do see why it may be good to have accounts, but I think in this situation, the cons overrule the pros.

Byeeeeee!!!

You make accounts, but can change your name whenever! Duh! :D

But in the case of Ski Lodges or SI's, then your name would change on all your other posts outside of the thread, so everyone would know who you were.

Thanks, everyone! I understand where many of you stand with the no accounts. As I said... yesterday, I believe, I now see why. And whoever is the Hello person, you do prove a point, but it still takes away so much of what makes CB, well, CB. We aren't a formal group of any sorts. We are unique, and so is our website.

Ooh! I have an idea!!!

We have accounts. But the account is marked with a secret number, so we can still type in whatever we want for the name and stuff! Also, we can still have avatars. :)

That could still be a good idea, but as the Admins said, right now that is just too much for them to maintain with everything else they run. But it is a good idea, for sure.

Best idea yet. But, if we did get all this schnazzy stuff, we'd have to get the magazine or something so we could pay for the website, but if that happened, no more Cho.

No. We don't want to lose Cho! I'd rather have our current website than lose people to a new one.
