Favoritism

Admin, do you play favorites? I'm not going to even bother saying my name because it is obvious.

Even when I say things that aren't that bad, they get taken out. Then I see things that are just as bad, or sometimes worse, on other people's posts. Once, you wouldn't post my comment. Then, I used a fake name, and it was posted.

Admin, why do you play favorites?

We try very hard to be fair to all. To post whatever is said respectfully and to avoid repetition. We use our own judgment. You have no way of knowing what things from others may have been deleted. There are three of us and our judgments may vary.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, please don't take out whatever you're feeling on the Admins. They are not playing favorites. I'm not usually direct like this, but now I am. So let me explain how I think things work. Admins, yo can back me up of what I say is true

You have to remember that there is more than one Admin. Three I believe...two main ones, for earlier and later in the day, and a sub.

The Admins have different views on what should be posted and what can not. Not terribly different, but different enough to make a few noticeable changes.

Ex 1: Last year someone made a thread asking why something angry they had said had been "minimized" meaning changed and something else just as angry by another person had not. The Admin replied that two different Admins had posted those. One Admin saw the first comment as just fine, and the other Admin saw the second and felt it might be hurtful.

Ex 2: Once someone posted the word cra... which I was surprised at because on another thread it had been as crud.

The Admins are not being unfair. Your posts, I believe, are posted by different Admins. Or If you think about it, maybe the "favorited" CBer you are referring to HAS in fact been "targeted." Maybe something nice they said actually used to be in all caps with exclamation marks and not nice words.

Or maybe something not nice they said was deleted.  Like the Admin said, you have no way of knowing what posts have been deleted.

I hope this doesn't seem like I'm lashing out or anything. I felt the need to reply because A) I really respect and trust the Admins, even if I don't always agree with their decisions (it happens once in a while...a thread shut down I don't think should've been, or something posted I don't think should've been, etc) and B) This is a misunderstanding, and I usually feel the need to clear up that sort of thing.

May I add that when there are pages of comments waiting to be posted (like now!), something may be overlooked. We don't have time to check the context in which each new comment is made. If you are ever concerned about a posted comment, you can email us on that thread with your concern. We do sometimes take a second look at a string of comments in a thread and edit some of them. We balance this with trying to get everything posted as fast as possible so you all can continue your stories and discussions!

Owlgirl proves a very valid point that I personally agree with. There are what? 3 Admins? They come on as time is free during their day. Think of all the comments and threads you make. All the toppings, questions, everything. Then add that to the number of people who are actively on CB. That gives them pages worth of work to do.

I know the Admins try their hardest. They don't pick favorites. I've just noticed out of the Admins, some are more lenient than others. That means some things fly by as okay while another Admin will say No. No that is inappropriate/rude.

The Admins do not pick favorites. I do not think they are not rude or selfish. They are just doing their job for us. If one refuses to post something, then don't go complaining. Giving us the CB and working to keep everything modest and friendly to all users. Just learn to appreciate the work they do for us.

If there is even the slightest doubt among the Admins as it being rude/inappropriate, then there is no point in sharing it. Adults tend to have even higher emotional standing than kids and teens, meaning they can handle rude things easier. If an Admin believes it is wrong, then it will no doubt hurt one of the CBers.

Admin: Pardon me please, but where did the Interactive Murder Mystery thread go? I can't find it anywhere. I understand that you folks have so much to manage and that you sacrifice so much of your time to keep this Chatterbox running and, what's more, safe. I don't think that you play favoritism. But it is confusing sometimes when your thread isn't posted-- and you don't know why. If I were for some reason to post a harmful thread, or if I posted a well-meaning but hurtful thread, or a thread that contained foul language or anything, I would accept without question that it just didn't make the cut. But I don't think there was anything wrong with the afore-mentioned thread. I even did a Google-search, and it didn't turn up. It took me a while to write, and I hate to lose it. Could anyone at least tell me what was wrong with it, so that I can avoid making the same mistake in the future? Thank you. :)

I actually don't remember an Interactive Murder Mystery thread, but it's been very busy lately. If you've already done a google search and looked on back pages, then, I'm sorry, but I don't have any other suggestions for you. The google search doesn't always work for me, either, even for something I know I've just posted. Let's hope your thread does show up. In the future, it's always a good idea to keep a copy of your work on your harddrive or somewhere from which you can copy and paste.

Like OwlGirl and Admin said, There are different Admins with different opinions.

You also must realize the amount of time it takes to work this website. It's really hard to make a website that keeps people's feelings into account. The admins do try their hardest :)

I understand what I think you know is getting at, but....

The word you mention, Icy, is on the list of words I will not post.

Thank you!!! :)

I'll just resort to either saying OMK (oh my Kyngdom) or OMI (oh my Irene. Popular youtube refrence.)

I think this is a bit silly. The Admins probably do not, in any way, try to have favorites. They're here to help keep this place nice, and the only time they've changed anything that I've written is when I wrote in all caps on Kyngdom (which looking back on I appreciate).
