Ok, NOW I

Ok, NOW I understand everything! I understand why you guys were so worried about personal safety and all that! We're talking about it in school, and I'm really scared about that! I don't want to go on things like AIM or IMVU ever again!!!!! (Do you all know what IMVU is? My friend had me do it...) But I haven't been on either of them for at least a year, so I think I'm safe. But however, I'm still going to go on Facebook, and don't worry, I only add people who I know on it. (sorry, all facebook haters!) Also, my dad is my friend on Facebook and he can see most of what I do so that's one way to be safe. But I really am scared about people like that! It's just... creepy that people would actually want to stalk others... you guys know what I mean?

Could you guys explain to me this whole thing? Just use common sense and there's very little to worry about. Less dangerous than getting into a car. Than again, most things are. What's with this whole deal?

About internet stalkers? It's just creepy. And yes, you could use common sense, but some have a way of tricking you into revealing information and stuff like that. Also, they ask you weird questions that won't really give away your location or anything, but that they just LIKE knowing. That's why it's so scary.

One scary thing is the little lies. LIke, my teacher said, if you have a picture of a horse or something for your profile pic, then the guy could say "My favorite animal is horses!" and then you get really close and then he says "Want to meet me at a dark alley? (kidding I meant park but the dark alley was kind of funny) and yeah. He could be really dangerous. Or Americas most wanted!

Well of course, don't trust the way people present themselves on the internet, but there is such a thing as being overly cautious.

Yes, I guess, but I think better safe than sorry and just be as careful as you can online.

I'm sorry if I've seemed rude or snappish on this or any other thread. I just tend to speak (or type) my mind without a lot of elaboration or smoothing over - it can come across as rude sometimes. I'll be more careful about it. Sorry again!

I just think if you don't know if you can trust someone, don't give out your birthdate, specific location, and last name.  And never schedule to meet a faceless someone unless an adult comes.  Duh.

Um... I've given out my birthdate. Do you think that's okay? And why are age and location now starred (required), Admins?

No longer required--just a mixup.

I noticed that you fixed it. Thanks! :)

I think it's okay, but it's better not to.  I think I might have, too, when I wasn't thinking . . . *thinks*

*thinks also*

Yeah, okay, that makes sense. I think that's not safe only when we don't give away our locations. Then the stalker can narrow it down, I think.
