Hi, nice to meet you, Copperfalcon! Nice name. Anyway, I've really got to run now (it's 11:15 P.M!!) but I will introduce myself, the sections of the CB, and terms we CBers use around here.

Me: I'm Daisy, I love coffee, books, and chocolate. I'm 13, live in NC, and yes, my real name is Daisy. I have 5 younger siblings, I am Catholic, and homeschooled. 

Sections:

this month is a really, really boring and useless and inactive section. No comments there. 

Chirp at Cricket (CaC) is where announcements usually take place.

Blab about Books (BaB) is self explanatory. We talk about books! Also, if we are writing books, we may post them there.  

Down to Earth (DtE) is where we talk about our lives, the world, and regular stuff. 

Puddings Place is where we talk about art, music, and where we have Ski Lodges (see Terms, below, for details). 

Inkwell might be the most active and popular section on Cricket. We write stories, have solo writes, do RPs (see below), and do lots of fun reading and writing!  

Terms:

AEs are both: a person (or animal) you make up to represent another side of your character or a specific characteristic of yourself; and a fun "imaginary" friend you make up. They pop in and out of threads- Like this!- Bolton, be quiet. He's one of my AE's and- you bet I am!- as you can see, he's a bit crazy. Lol.  They usually talk in italics, or bold, or both. 

CB and CBers:  CB is a term for the chatterbox on cricket, where all these sections are. A CBer is simply a person who posts on the CB. 

Top: is a thing you say when you want to get a comment or thread to the top of the webpage. 

CAPTCHAS: are the four letters at the bottom of the screen when you submit a comment. Some people name them and post what they say, if it's something interesting, like a word. My captcha, her name is Button, says "bbcn". I wonder if she's trying to say "CNN"? 

RPs: a way to write roleplay. Someone comes up with a plot, then people join and make characters, (also called Charries), and post as their character. So they help write the story. 

Ski lodges: ooh, these are fun! A CBer goes under a different name than normal, and asks people to join with their AE's. Only the person that creates the ski lodge can write the story, and as they do, they secretly pick someone who joined (either a CBer or a cber's AE) to murder off the rest of the people. I promise it's not as gruesome as it sounds! They are great fun to read and it's fun to guess who the murderer is, before it's too late.

Hi, Copperfalcon! I love your CB Name. I'm Moonlight, and named Natalie, and until recently CNN Reporter, and before that Jack-a-Nat. The Ultimate Guide to the CB is very helpful, and the comments feature all of the 'wars' and stuff like that. A little bit more about me: I'm 11 years old. My AE is Crystal (I have had many AEs, all who have been sent away, but Crystal is very similar to my second AE, Crysti, after I got back from camp this summer), and my CAPTCHA is named Pavlova, or Pavi. I call her a TAPTCHA, because I type what she wants to say and what the CAPTCHA says with my eyes closed and translate it. You will see that I am a horrible typer. Recently I decided to type what she says and the translation in between ~'s.

In the CB, we write stuff, read other people's writing, and talk about life. Sometimes we get philosophical, and sometimes our AEs throw flaming brussels sprouts pies at everyone while we're setting up booby traps. It all depends. The CB's pretty crazy and random, but you get used to it.

I suggest reading through a few threads, clicking around and seeing where it gets you, just to get a general idea of the CB. Then, if you're insane enough for it, go ahead and join in!
