Newbie Questions

~I'm sorry that I used the term 'Newbie', but it was the best term that I could use~

I'm a Newbie, though I joined on May 22, and I have some questions.

1. Did the CB invent AEs?

2. Who invented AEs?

3. Who came up the with term 'charrie'?

4. Who came up with the term 'top'?

Now that you see what I mean by Newbie Questions, ask your own for midlie CBers or any oldie CBer that checks in and sees or is still here, though I don't think there are any oldies left (I don't know which people are oldies or midlies).

1. I'm pretty sure

2. Brookeira did--ask her about it!

3. Not sure.

4. It can't be traced back to any specific person, because it is mainly underneath a pseudonym. It's been around for ages, though,

I haven't been around quite that long to answer these properly! For question one, it's really hard to say, but I think so, at least in the way we write them. As for two, Brookeira invented AEs. The first-ever one was Masked Piester. *salutes in reverence*

1. Technically no; the Alter Ego is a real word in the dictionary, however, we made up our own definition.

2. Yes, I think it was Brookiera, with Masked Piester.

I don't know about 3 and 4; that's VERY ancient CBer info.

1. Nope, it is a real term. Like previously said, we just kinda made the meaning unique to us.

2. Brookeira was the first to create an AE with Masked Piester, here on the CB

3. The term is an actual internet/forum term used by most people, so no one here on the CB created it.

4. I cannot remember her name, but there was a girl back way when the CB was first created. She started using the term "poke" to move threads up, but it kind of evolved to being "top" instead. But again, like 3, both terms "poke" and "top" have been around for ages across the internet/forums.

Hope this helped!

1. No! Many people have had AEs in the past.

2. *shrugs* Who knows. However, on Cricket, Winter Firefly and Brookeira were the first to have one. Though, I suppose Ruby could be the first one. There where only 5 or 6 around at the time, and I was thankful to be one of those.

3. It is short for Character, so it was just another nickname.

4. Beyond my days. Top is used to send a thread to the TOP of Inkwell or Down to Earth or another of those.

Answers from a oldie XD XD I sound like a grandma...actually  I'm more between oldie and middlie, but closer to oldie. Anywaaaay:

1. The term "alter ego" already existed, but the CB redefined it, so yes, in a way the CB invented AEs.

2. Brookeira's AE, Masked Piester, was the first. He's still here and crazy as ever.

3. I don't know who brought it onto the CB, but it definitely already existed. Charrie is defined on the internet as: "Short for character, often used in online roleplays."

4. *shrug* Don't know.

How long have you been here?

Since February 2015.  I came as the Nostalgia War was ending. There was mostly peace, but a few threads about people leaving and people feeling sad. Peace came quickly, though people still referenced it.

It'll be 2017 soon, so over a year on the CB. Gosh, it feels like much longer! I feel like I've seen so much....*enters memory lane*

I feel I was there when people made lots of posts about less RPs although that died down, I was there when people rarely posted on DTE, and I was also there as C@C became our miscellaenous, general CB section, I was there when you first started posting the Elementi CHronicles, which unfortunately I haven't gotten very far! I was there as solo-writes and CB stories gained popularity, and I was there when SIs had a huge boom, and then I was there as ACGs got popular, I was there for the impersonation mini-war *shudder*, I was there for the Second AE War (a lot of us were) and I participated in tons of roleplays, though I haven't done one in a while.

The CB is so awesome.

I'm actually a newbie... but I like exploring the back pages, so I know some of those answerd.

1. I don't know this one, but I think so!

2. It was Brookeira, with MP

3. It exists in other online places, but I think the person who introduced it to here was Dmboogie (or something like that). Look on the Mage's Guild RP,, the original one.

4. it used to be poke, then evolved to top, so idk.

Oooo... *cracks knuckles* Perpare yourselves for a history lesson!

1. Did the CB invent AEs?

Well, yes, in a sense, AEs as we know them were invented by CBers.

You see, a long time ago, in a land far far *coughcough* I mean, a while ago there was a wonderful CBer named Ruby, who had schizophrenia. One of the other CBers, Red, was one of the people inhabiting Ruby's head. To explain this, Ruby made a post, and I believe in explaining how his and Ruby and his other alternate selves worked, he used the term 'alter ego'.

Ruby was quite popular, since he is a fabulous human being, and has contributed a lot to the CB in other ways- for instance, ski lodges are actually of his creation- and so it is no wonder other people decided to give pen to their own variations of personality. Brookeira has claimed the title of 'first to create an Alter Ego' though Danie was quick behind with Squeak.

2. Who invented AEs?

I believe this is answered in the previous, long winded question.

3. Who came up the with term 'charrie'?

I'm not sure, but as far as I can tell it's first use was in September 2011.

4. Who came up with the term 'top'?

I have no idea; it's been around, it seems to me, since the very beginning (2008 or so).
