A thread of thankfulness and inspiration

Basically, you name something you're thankfull for and something/someone that inspires you.

Inspiration: Carmenlita, My grandmother's friend

Carmenlina (as she was called in Italy) was born in Naples, Italy, during WW2. A few months later, her father died, so her mother opened an antique shop, leaving Camenlina's eldest married sister in charge. As a child, she would get up at 6.00 in the morning and wait until 8.00 to get a loaf of bread before the store ran out. She also waited for long periods of time to get water. At night, she would sleep in the subway during air raids. She also learned to cook from a young age, because she had a big family. But just imagine. All of that. Daily. Now it's harder for me to complain about picking up my room. I go to visit her with my grandmother every Thursday.

Thankful for: My mom picked up some Chinese food from a place an hour away after her doctor's appointment. Thanks mom!

Wow, that's such an inspiring story, Pepper Star! I'll share mine tomorrow (but not nearly as amazing as yours). Also, I love this thread idea!
