Stolen Item :(

I. AM. FURIOUS. Do you know why? A student stole my $60 high tech Bluetooth earbuds that I paid for on my birthday. He broke them and wrote his name on them on purpose. They were missing for three days. I let my teachers know that someone stole them. One of my friends texted me and said they saw the "culprit" with them, showing them off. When a teacher got them back and gave them to me, they were broken (you could see the wires inside), and he wrote his name in sharpie all over them. So what I did was let the teacher know that they were damaged. That teacher sent an email to a head teacher, and then to the principal. I'm still waiting for a response. I just wanted to let you guys know about it.

Happy Friday,

Wow, that kid is a jerk. Seriously, where I come from if someone did that - which they would never dare - they would probably be suspended. And would have to pay for new headphones. I do not understand why anyone would want to be so cruel like that, some people are just awful. Well, I hope you hear back from the principal! Hopefully, they can replace your headphones, I would be furious if they did not.

HOLY.  TRASH.  Somthing like that hasn't happened to me since earlier this school year!!!  I remember when people ask me for stuff, and then they don't give it back!  And then I'll ask for it, and they'll say they "lost it" or they'll say "I left it at home!"  which is SO mean!!!

I hope you get a new pair of earbuds, A.A., and I'm SUPER sorry someone stole these. Man, things like that really make me mad. I just wanna stand up to kids like that and teach them a lesson.

Taking someone's stuff is bad. Breaking it is worse. But when it's sixty dollars and you paid for it with your own money?? Wow. I'm mad for you too! I think he should pay for it.

Please tell us if he's punished or not!

Sheesh! Some people are incredibly- well, I guess there really isn't a word to describe it. I'm really sorry, and I hope he has to pay to get you new ones and gets detentions. Good luck.

That's just terrible! I'm so sorry, AA! Nobody should be allowed to do that. I hope that kid has to at least buy you new, same-quality earbuds.

Funnily enough, I once knew a kid like that. Nothing too drastic, but she did do two things in fifth grade:

1) When my parents went to Ireland without me (FOR THE FIFTIETH TIME), they brought me back this mood ring. I loved mood rings at that point, so I was really happy with it, and I wore it a lot. But the thing with me and jewelry is, I always stop wearing it at one point, and that day I came to school without it on my finger - and the girl was wearing it! We went through hours of me trying to prove it was mine, and her deflecting it again and again - "I got it at the Natural History Museum!" "It comes from across the ocean, imbicile!" - until finally I got my ring back. It was damaged, though, because she was so careless.

2) After that incident, my mom and I knew she was trouble. We were practicing fifth grade graduation in the auditorium downstairs one day, and when we got back up, my backpack was completely broken into. All of my stuff was spread across the floor, boxes were opened, et cetera. Most of my stuff was still there, except for twenty dollars of emergency money. Nobody ever took the blame, but the culprit was quite obvious.

Aaaand I've started talking about me again. Oops.

@A.A., that is so awful of him, that pillock! Thank goodness he got caught, and I hope that the situation gets better.

@EVERYONE.

I'm having the same problem, but not with me, but my friend.

My friend, let's call her H, had a nice jacket that she really liked and was her favourite. Now, I was absent that day, but she was presenting in Philosophy class, and this stuck up and rude girl (let's call her S) had to sit by her for the time being. Anyway, when H got up to present, she left her jacket on the table. When she was done, she went to sit back down and it wasn't there. She asked S if she knew where it went or if she had it, but S said she didn't.

Well, TURNS OUT, a couple of days ago, H saw S wear her jacket on the bus and wear it to school. (They ride the same bus.) When H confronted her, S told H that she got the jacket from Ross. Well, S is a liar! Because H had a PINK jacket that she got off of Amazon, and you can't just get that at Ross. Plus, it was the EXACT SAME ONE.

H had told the Philosphy teacher about it earlier on, so the teacher was also on alert, but S keeps on not wearing it the day we have Philosophy (It's a block schedule).

I was thinking about telling the teacher to just have her eye out for S, in case she saw her with her jacket again, but I also don't want our teacher to confront S when S doesn't have the jacket on (so S doesn't purposefully not wear it to school). So that's why I'm going to tell her to keep an eye out.

Any better suggestions? I don't like idiots who think they can get away with this! Who would wear a jacket that they stole to school and then lie about it?

I would maybe tell S's parents about it, or tell another teacher besides the Philosophy teacher about it. She's a real jerk! I hate people like that!

So, break into his locker and ruin something he cares about. Retaliate! Start a war! Violence is always the answer!

Nah, kidding and definitely not something I would advise you to do, but seriously that sucks. I'd try to get him or his family to pay you back the $60 but I doubt they ever would. If he's being brought up to do those sorts of things, chances are the parents / authority figures are either not going to care or they'll try to find some way to twist the argument in their favor. Hope you can get it resolved anyway.
