Today is my

Today is my Name Day!!

Does anyone else celebrate their name days?  I have for three years.  We first heard of it when we read The Golden Name Day, which is a really good book, that I highly recommend by Jenni Lindquist.  (I also recommend it's two sequels, The Little Silver House, and... um...  I think it's called The Crystal Tree)

So anyway, mom always gives me a book, (or really, two, starting today)

I can't remember what I got the first time, but last year I got The Nines Lives Of Fankle The Cat, (or something similar), and today I got The Little Silver House, and Girlwood.

My mom was going to give me The Golden Name Day today, but she forgot to get anything for Easter, and wanted to give me something, so she gave it to me then instead.  :D

Has anyone read Girlwood?  I've never heard of it before, and was wondering if it was good!  :P

Sorry, that was odd.  Anyway, for a touch of even more random randomness:

Yesterday, my mom opened a can of tuna.

Before she did, she said to me, watch the cats, and see what they do.  Casey wasn't in the house, as far as I could tell, so I just watched JoJo.  Well, the moment she started to open the can, JoJo perked up and stared really hard in the direction of the kitchen.

Next thing we know, the backdoor swings open a little, and Casey comes running in!  (here JoJo gets up to chase her into the kitchen)

We have no idea how she does it, but every time my mom opens a can of tuna, she shows up, no matter where she is, or what she's doing!  It's like she has radar in her brain, or something!!!!

And it doesn't happen with just any can, it has to be something she likes.  :)

Sorry, I'm not the best story teller!!!  :D

Read The Golden Name Day!!  :D

Ok, well, you know how in some religons each saint has a day?  Well, in some places, like Sweden,  people who have the same name, or one similar to a saint's, celebrate that saint's day, basically like they would a birthday!  :)

Of course, in my family, we don't do the whole big celebration, but my mom gives me a little gift.  :)  It's really a neat tradition!  And its nice, because my birthday is in december, so it makes it easier to wait. :)

I hope that made sense.  If not, try looking it up on Wiki!  :)

You're name day is April 23, if I'm not mistaken.  :)

Neat!  I read a book, "Catherine, called Birdie", and they talked about that a bit, but there weren't a lot of female saints . . . would you happen to know when my Name Day is?  Umm, I doubt there'd be "Hanna", but maybe "Hannah"?

Oh, Catherine Called Birdie was a good book!  I forgot they talked about that... didn't she have a book of the saints day's that she carried around all the time?  :)

Hanna and Hannah would be the same day, because names that are similar are usually the same, like mine is also Lauren, and Lawrence, and couple of other things...

Yours is July 26!!  Cool!  You can still ask your parents if you can celebrate it this year!  :P

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

This is fun!  :)

They didn't say if she had a book, but she always seemed to know the name for every day. :)

Actually, it did say she had book with the lives of saints written in it that she got for her . . . was it birthday?  I forget.  But it was a present. :)

I'm not Catholic, but can you look up my name day? I know that it's very unlikely that there was ever a Saint Katie, but what about Saint Katherine? That's my real name anyway. 0r there would at least be something close to it, right?
