Taking the 18917

Taking the 18917 off my name?

Hey guys, sorry to bother you with this, but I'm not sure if I should take the -18917 off of my name.

Yes, take it away:

18917 is my sail number, and I love sailing. But nobody ever uses it, including me, not that I want them to. And it takes a really long time to type out, not to mention the rest of my name and location doesn't fit in with it.

No, keep it:

Well, it's kinda become part of me on the CB, and like I said earlier, it symbolizes my sailing. Besides, I've grown kind of attached to it, and am not able to imagine myself without it.

Please tell me what you think, and why. Oh, and please don't say "It's up to you"- I'm really torn between it and need advice.

I can see that you kind of want to keep it that way. But, I personally think it's just the one part of your name the no one really uses. I actually normally don't even remember it. To say it bluntly, I think that you should take it away. I know that sailing means a lot to you, so you could maybe make your location something different like "Sailing across the sea." That was a pretty bad idea for a location box, but you get the picture. On the other hand, your name would seem kind of empty without it. So, I'm leaning towards you taking it away, but keeping it the current way also is a good idea.

Now I feel really mean about saying that you should take away the numbers, but you said you wanted our opinions. So, yeah... If it means enough to you that you want to keep it, you don't have to listen to what other people say or how they call you. It's really your choice; this is just my opinion.

Well, whatever choice you make, I totally support you on it!

Taking the 18917 off your name would be like taking the "B." off my name.  It's in my copy and paste, and it would be harder to type it out the first two or three weeks.  And it would become reflex to write the full one anyway.  So I say keep it.

Well... I have to agree with Lucy. It's like taking away part of who you are. Yes, I don't remember your numbers, nor do I type them, but I remember when you first came here. You explained why each part of your name was unique, was you. And I feel that taking it away kind of steals a bit of what you chose to be for the CB. So yeah, that's my bit of advice for you! I hope it helps!

I agree with Lucy and Ashlee.

It's really up to you, but I don't think you should take it off. The fact that no one adds it to your name when they address their post to you isn't bad; it's a nickname! Like right there, I said "Lucy and Ashlee" instead of "Lucy B. and Ashlee G.". Many people call me "Star" or "Seeker", but not many call me "Starseeker". (I don't mind, by the way) I think that a Cber name should reflect who you are, and it seems like sailing's a pretty important thing to you. Keep the "18917"!

If you're really attached to the number, maybe you should just take it out of your name and put it into the age box?

Keep it! If it really means something to you, then keeping it would continue to symbolise sailing, because that's a part of who you are. ^^

Yes, like a combination of what Moonlight and Aelin said, perhaps you could do something like:

Name: Elementgirl

Location: sailing on the sea

Age: 18917 

That could help with the change, if you choose to do so, but not so extreme as to rid yourself of the number in its entirety. Just a thought :)

I actually like it, but it is really hard to remember and I don't type it a lot- maybe shorten it? Like elementgirl189, or elementgirl26(the sum of all the digits- I'm a weird thinker that way.)
