Dear ADMINsA

Dear ADMINs

As a person who always likes to take all differnt kinds of people into account, I would like to ask a question:

Why do you let Blonde Heroines Rule speak for you?

Gared, I have carefully read all your comments. The reason we refer people to BHR's comments is because she stated our policy and feelings very well. All we Admins/Editors agree with what she said, and we hope others will read her comments and understand our guildelines better, even if they don't agree with us. We review hundreds of comments each day and have many other responsibilities which take time. We don't have hours and hours to reply, especially repeating things that have already been said.

We do edit out other kinds of things, too. You don't know because, unless you are the submitter, you don't see them. If you have a specific issue with violence or something else you think we may have overlooked, please send us the address of the comment in question and, as time allows, we'll have another look.

We do try to be careful and fair to all.

Admin

ADMINs, that was not my message. My message was that people are being disciminated against here.

At least you have knowledge that some of us saw what you were saying, Gared. And I have a feeling others get the gist of it too.

I understand your frustration, although I'd like to say to try refraining from using all caps.

Also, I believe they merely thought BHR's comment voiced their thoughts, so that's why they refer to it. If you would like an answer directly from them, it's probably best to either ask for that or phrase your question more specifically.

I mean this with all due respect, just trying to be helpful....I think it's good that we're discussing rules to make sure we clarify them. I don't think it has escalated, merely just had more input. I'm cautious though, so I think it is best to always be very polite, that way it doesn't escalate. Although I say once again that it hasn't yet.

Since I don't know if Gared will be visiting the CB anytime soon... I wanted to add that the caps wasn't in a rude way, we often refer to the Admins in caps like their title. So it's a good thing!

That's true. Sorry, I didn't think of that. And to be honest, I don't think I knew what I was saying....I did not mean to imply Gared was being rude by using caps, because it's true it's a way to address them/get attention. I'm just...

I think I just got more nervous with each thread. I know they are people's opinions and questions, and there's not a problem with that. Because I agree with what people are saying, about change and equality, and at the same time I respect the Admins and at the same time I don't want this to turn into a big conflict although...well, so threads make me nervous and at the same time I get and understand the need to make them. I think that post sparked from that moment of nervousness.

So I'm sorry if it came across as anything negative, especially to you, Gared. I...I really think you shouldn't leave.

Oh, it's okay, Owlgirl! I knew you knew that, it's just nerves. We all get nervous, especially in big conficts. You cannot imagine how I guess stressed out over this I've been. What will post, what will be deleted, who will be upset. I will just be happy once there is a compromise, and maybe that'll help your nerves, Owlgirl?

Thank you Ashlee, for being so kind and understanding. That does help.

Gared, I in no way claim to speak for the Admins.  I have never tried nor wanted to speak for them nor do I aim to put words in their mouths.  I have no intention of ever doing it.  I merely was supporting the given guidelines the Admins have already presented, as well as speaking for what appears to be becoming the minority on this site, of people who simply want this to be left as a site for writing, imagination, creativity, music, movies, tv, and less mature and explicit life topics.  Just because we discuss life on here doesn't mean we're entitled to talk about things that aren't unsuitable. The age range on here may be higher now, but we still get 8 and 9 year olds on here.  And as said, some of us older writers don't want to be bombarded with it.  We are not, again, in ANY WAY kept in the dark about life issues! About these issues!  Is it so much to ask that a website be kept alone for its original purpose?

The Admins have said no.  End of story.  I would say the same thing if Admins didn't allow something I wanted to say.  In fact some of my comments have been censored before, and I accept it because it's up to the Admins, it's their judgment, and it's rude and disrespectful to question them.  This site is under their control, not any of ours.  And as said, this site reflects the Cricket company.  They have to do what they deem best. The Admins do not owe ANY of us an explanation for their actions, especially just for us to argue!

I see this whole compaint after the Admins gave their word as rude, disrespectful, and hurtful.  It says you don't care about the rest of us on this site, only yourself and the lgbt group, not any of the rest of us who many feel otherwise. It says you don't care about the Admins and their authority, you don't care about the Cricket company, and that you're in this for a cause.  I say that to all who have disrespected the Admins, not just Gared.

And again, I in NO WAY claim to speak for the Admins, I merely support their decision and give voice to those of us who feel the same way.   End of story.

We're trying to shape the community, and show the litter ones that it's alright to be yourself. We're a community, we look after each other, no matter who we might like, or what colour our skin might be, or what religion we may practise.

I agree, and we've definitely achieved that.  Therefore I don't see any reason why anyone should feel discriminated or attacked. Nobody has done anything to provoke it.  The Admins setting guidelines as to how far we're allowed to discuss these things is a perfectly okay thing to do.  Like you Claaws, I too am looking after the community, ensuring that we're accepting of everyone.  Balance requires knowing where to draw the line.  Free speech entitles the Admins to be allowed to restrict how far certain subjects are allowed to be talked about.

For instance, if I tried to come on here and talk about my Christian beliefs on marriage, identity, relationships, or anything else like that to a point that became too in depth or inappropriate for young readers, the Admins  would have to restrict it and edit my comments.  And I understand that, because while I feel and believe a certain way to be truth, it doesn't mean everything within it is okay to be freely read and talked about.  And it doesn't make the CB my pulpit.  There are times and places to speak, and times and places to be quiet.  That, my friends, is where true tolerance and acceptance begins.

Treat others as you wish to be treated.  As a Christian I believe my life is a ministry and that in all I do I'm called to speak and present the Gospel.  But that doesn't mean I am called to force my beliefs on people or preach at them.  It goes the same way for you.  You're allowed to believe what you wish, but at a certain point your beliefs encroach on others and it becomes forceful.  If you don't want to be "preached at" then please don't try to over assert yourself with others.  People have different beliefs and opinions and whether you consider that to be right or wrong, we're still entitled to those beliefs.

The Cricket Chatterbox is a neutral place, welcome to people in all areas of the political field.  But that doesn't mean we're each entitled to use the CB as a place to overwhelm others with those beliefs.  So if the Admins view a topic as going too far in one direction, regardless of the ages on here, then you have to respect their work to keep the balance.

Okay, I'm going to try this again, reworded a bit because I think I stated it the wrong way last time.

BHR, you are wonderful and I am so glad to say I have been honored in getting to know you for the past... well, since you joined! Which was I think 5 years ago. 6 perhaps? Anyways, point aside. I just wanted to say for this particular comment, I have to agree. Admins are doing their best and there is a fine line between what is allowed and isn't. Even if I haven't agreed with a lot of the Admin's views on this situation, I respect them in the least.

I understand your point and it is a good one. I mean no disrespect and that's why I have stayed out of this argument thus far.

All people are welcome on Chatterbox. It's the discussion of certain topics that is limited.

It's okay to stay out if you feel uncomfortable being in the discussion. And if you do want to be part of it that's totally okay too.

Gared left, but....

The Admins just lead people to BHR's comments because they agreed with her comments and thought that they summed up the Admin's policies very well. And I definitely agree. If someone else had spoken as such, they would've pointed to them.

The Admins don't have favoritism, trust me. As one of the lesser CBettes (someone who does rage and make several mistakes), who has messed up several times in her comments in a negative way, I can say that the Admins don't treat me differently for the crazy person I am.
