Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

 Please see new

Please see new note from Admin at the end of this thread.

@Claaws, Gared, etc
I’ve been reading your discussions on CaC about LGBTQ+ issues. I admire your will and the way you stand up for diversity, but I need to say a few things.
One, although I know the Admins don't agree with you, please make sure to be nice to them. They were the ones who created this place, and they work hard every day to keep the CB running. They make sure that Cricket is a special forum of long, beautiful comments, instead of random chatrooms and spam. Yes, I know you think they are annoying, but we all respect them and I’m sure you do too. I actually admire how they kept their cool, because I’m sure you didn't mean it but some things you said come across as kind of insulting. They didn't get hurt or angry, didn't snap.
Two, referring to the thread made by +, the CB hasn't changed for the worse. If it's “less” welcoming, that means that at one point it was “more” welcoming, and it's always been this way. It isn't your fault you didn't know that, and I hope I don't sound condescending.
Actually, we should be grateful that gay characters are allowed, because before the Diversity War, not even that was allowed. Some Conservative/Christian CBers are actually complaining that the CB is less welcoming to them, and I know you mean to embrace everyone including them, which brings me to my next point.
Three, make sure BHR knows you're not mad at her. Make sure she knows you don't think she claims to “speak” for the Admins, because I know you respect both her and the Admins. She wrote comments, and the Admins liked them, that's all. It's not like we're two-year-olds pointing fingers at each other, we're mature tweens/teens and I hope you let her know that.
Four, and this is directed at Gared: Please don't leave. You're so creative, what with SailHaven, your solo writes, and your AEs. If you must, don't do it out of anger. That's the worst way to quit anything.
I love everyone on the CB. It's always been a place to escape, a place to unleash our imaginations. And it always will be. I hope this discussion can end peacefully, because you guys are all strong, great people.

I agree with everything you're saying here.

I've really been trying not to get involved with this diversity thing we're having here, just because I haven't really noticed that it has gotten "less" welcoming.  I mean, I've only been here for what, 7, 8 months?  Maybe i wasn't here for when it started to become "less" welcoming.  And I don't want to get involved also because I'm too nice to say anything that might hurt someone else's feelings.  But I agree with what you say nonetheless.  We should be grateful for the Admins and for what we have now.

Gay characters were allowed before the Diversity war. They were just very rare--nobody really made them, I don't know why.

Anonymous, thank you so much. That really sums up what I feel about this whole deal. Thank you for sorting through all these conflicting thoughts, opinions, and emotions. I'm sure I'm not the only one to feel this way, too. You were mature and respectful to all parties involved, which is quite the feat! Thank you.

I agree that the Admins work hard, deserve respect, and are admirable for how they maintain calmness. Thank you for respectfuly reminding us of this.

You have not been the only person to point out that BHR did not intend to speak for the Admins, so you will be pleased to know that many people have addressed this, and for the most part that has settled down. Like I said, this was posted afternoon of July 1.

That's very nice of you to reach out to him. You're really right about the creativity too.

That's about one sixth of the whole thing but....okay.

Gay characters were allowed before th Diversity War, people just didn't create them a lot. They are still allowed.

@Admins, I made a post responding to all the points in the thread...I was very respectful and I believe I only mentioned the current issue once. I did clarify the outcome of the Diversity War, so I don't see what was to be held back.

Please reconsider, thank you very much.

There's a stack of comments that have been waiting over the long holiday weekend for careful consideration. Now the office is open again, but I can't say how long consideration will take or predict what will or will not be posted. We are a small staff. Thank you for your patience and respect.
