CB Name Explanations

CB Name Explanations Reboot!

I think we've had a few of these before, so credits to whoever first thought of it. I've found myself wondering about many people's CB names, so feel free to ask about anyone's name, and explain your own! You can also add pronunciation, because I know we've had threads about that too.

How do you pronounce your name? I always thought of it as Lee-Lee, but now that I think of it, I could be way off.

Well, my name kind of is obvious... I'm a singer, and I am an S2 in both three parts and four parts this year (although I also sing S1 in three parts sometimes). I usually make my usernames for things 'songbirdava,' but I just wanted to switch it up, and I've grown fond of my name now, so... XD

A lot of people have asked about the question mark after my name. It's there because I was considering several names when I first joined Kyngdom, and then one day I came up with Viola?, a name like a variable, a possibility, an uncertainty. It was to say "It's not necessarily my name, and it might change, but you can call me Viola." And it stuck.

Many people have, from what I know.

I've always pronounced Leeli's name Lee-lie, though I know that's not actually how it's pronounced.

And my story is kind of long, but.

Basically when I was on Pottermore a lot of people would have nicknames for themselves, in addition to their usernames. So eventually I decided to be Stowl, which is a fusion of a stag and an owl, which I kept getting in Patronus tests. But Pottermore had an automated system that rejected certain words, and Stowl was one of them. So I posted as St.owl and it worked fine. Then my mom said that it looked a lot like "St.Owl," and it stuck.

Ah, your name makes more sense now, St! I knew it wasn't as "Saint Owl" which St typically stands for. Yet I was quite confused as what it would be in return. Stag makes a lot of sense, glad to know that! Huh, odd that they rejected Stowl. Maybe it was too close to another word they dislike?

This is Killim. And here's why I'm changing my name and doing it on here, if you don't mind reading.

Killim was originally a nickname given to me by my classroom peers. It's a play off of my last name (don't worry Admins, it's not that near to my last name at all). I thought it was annoying, but when I came back to the CB, I decided to stick with that name because I thought of that name out of the blue.

Here's why I'm changing it:

I don't feel very sentimental about, "Killim," and it doesn't bring back many fond memories. In fact, it might very well be the opposite. So interesting how a name can bring emotions like that, isn't it?

Here's what my new name means:

I know that Doctor Who? is a statement, not a name, but to me, it just flowed better than "The 13th Doctor." And yes, this is based off of not only the statement but also the 13th Doctor, as said in the age field. Now, the location might be confusing, but it makes sense to me. It's supposed to be a cafe or something. My best friend's favourite username is, "Blue Giraffe," and it's sorta a tribute to her.

So yeah. I hope you guys like it, and if you don't, I'm sorry. But I thought it was time for a change. I'm not going to make a thread about it, I'll just gradually let it set in. I was going to make the change on New Year's, but hey, might as well start getting used to it.

Thanks for hearing me out, guys. ^^ And thanks for making this thread, Leeli.

I was the creator of one of these threads a while back, and I'm glad you've brought it back Leeli! I mention how I got my name quite often, and so I think a lot of people know by now. But even so, I'll explain.

So, I really, really, really love this book series called Wings of Fire. It's about dragons, and there are several types of dragons in it. In third grade, when I first discovered this series, I started to make a fanfiction of it with my friend. I became a type of dragon called a NightWing, which is this all-black dragon with scales that look like stars under their wings. They are also known for having powers, such as mind-reading and future-seeing. (Starseeker is a special case-- I'll explain, if anyone is curious enough to ask.) I named my character Starseeker, and the name has stuck ever since. I use it in many places, but ones I'm not going to tell you, because some of them involve personal info. :) The name Starseeker also reminds me of the quote "Reach for the moon-- even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." I really love quotes, and this one in particular! (Admins, do you know who said it? I can't think of them off the top of my head...) It reminds me of the name Starseeker, and to always try my best and reach for the stars.

That probably seemed super long to y'all, but I love my name, and history behind names, and all that jazz. So I've thought about this a lot!

Most of you probably know this, but when I first came on the CB I wrote my introduction thread under the name Lyra Silvertongue, after the character from His Dark Materials, by Phillip Pullman. I love that series! But then Scylla posted to tell me that I couldn't be named Lyra because there already was a Lyra on the CB. She now posts under the name Elvina. So I tried to think of a new name, couldn't, and started doing my homework when the word 'cockleburr' came into my mind. I decided it was the perfect name and kept it.

My name is, well my name.  But I was considering changing it, though.  If I were, I wouldn't know what to change it to, though.
