@Admins: This isn't exactly a personal question, but I was wondering about this. What is so special about 7:00pm, December 31, 1969? That's what always shows up when you preview.

I have absolutely no idea! Chatterbox was not started until 2008, so it's just a glitch in the system. As I think back in history, there was no internet in 1969. Most or all people did not have home computers. All I can tell you about that day, without doing research, is that it was New Year's Eve!

Ok, I just did some research and that's the date which is used when there is supposed to be a date, but isn't one for some reason. On the east coast it shows up as 7:00pm. It's the reference point for all time stamps.

@admins Where do you live? Do you like it there or would you rather live somewhere else?

I live in an extremely small country town in New England and I love it here!

I live in central Illinois. I like it here because my family, friends, and favorite activities are here, and I enjoy the outdoors in all the various seasons. But I also do love to travel and visit other places.

@Admins

What was the most fun you've had reading a comment recently?

Oh, there are so many comments, it's hard to remember what I read even last night! Off the top of my head I'd say I love reading the ski lodges and other serials that are funny/spoofs. And I love the happiness threads, and reading about recent kindnesses received from others. I can definitely say that every day I am impressed to the greatest degreee by the creativity and quality of writing on Chatterbox. Many poems by CBers really impress and touch me, too, but I'm not sure "fun" is the right term for that.

@Admins, do you ever get annoyed when people post a lot at once?

Not if they have something to say. What did annoy me was when some people were trying to make a longest thread and sent many comments, each containing just one letter, so it took several comments to spell just one word and many many more to complete a sentence. That must have annoyed some readers, too!

are you retired, and how did you start doing this?

No, I'm not retired. I was already working in Cricket's editorial department when Chatterbox began, so administering it was added to the other things that I do.

Do you know who Tyler Thompson is? I know he works at Cricket, but I don't know what he does...

I don't know him. He is listed as Licensing Manager, which would be more on the business side of Cricket Media. I work in the editorial department.

@Admins so there's three of you? How did you become admins? (A.k.a. how was chatterbox/cricket invented?)

As the internet became more popular, Cricket staff realized an online forum would give readers a way to communicate with each other and collaborate on writing projects. Our webmaster made it all happen. We admins are fortunate to be assigned the job of reviewing and posting comments.

The CB was an awesome idea! @Admins, what is your favorite thing about administering the CB? What questions do you have about us as Cricket readers?

My favorite things (can't pick just one) about CB are: 1. hearing from all of you 2. reading your poems and stories. I am impressed every day by the quality of the writing! I especially like the many wonderful, sensitive poems, and the ski lodges usually make me laugh out loud!

Questions: What would you like to see more of in Cricket? What topics and genres?

Peace and also chemistry is awesome.

(In answer to the question asked by the Admins about the material in Cricket)

I enjoyed the comic about the Monkey King (Shades of Dragons was a cute story too, if I'm getting the name right); I think it would be interesting to see more styles of writing. I just flipped through a few of the Cricket magazines, and my favorites seem to either have really vibrant art detailing the story, or be some sort of historical fiction or fantasy. I think I seem to like stories from historical/ethnic vibe to them. I'm not sure how to explain this, but the type of story that takes you away to other times and other cultures/areas or realities .

This is getting all over the place, but I'd like to see more historical fiction, fantasy, comics, and also recipes (I really liked the Dutch pancakes, I think that's what it was called. I made my mom take me out so I could buy myself a pan that can go in the oven just for those pancakes).

As for topics, I like reading stories about compassion/empathy and its importance. Not just that, but the stories about kids with disabilities and such. Although I don't personally know anyone with autism, I still like the fact that Cricket is bringing some attention to it.

@Admin: What is your favorite thing to drink while it is raining? What about while reading (or do you prefer to not eat or drink around books)? Do you have any book recommendations?

When it's cold and raining in the evening (like tonight), hot chocolate. In the afternoon, hot tea with lemon. I don't drink a lot while I'm reading, but I usually have a cup of water handy, especially in the summer. I could recommend a lot of books. One of my favorites that isn't mentioned often is The Mozart Season by Virginia Euwer Wolff. There are a lot of other good ones reviewed on the Blab About Books and Cricket Readers Recommend sections of this website. I'm with you. I like historical fiction, in which I learn about another time and/or culture. I also like reading about real events in history. Thank you for answering my questions about Cricket! I'll pass your answers on to the editors.

Actually, I find the sciency stuff in Cricket kinda...boring. I really liked The Forty theives, so maybe things that involve more modern-ish folk tales? I also loved The Petticoat Skipper, and that one where the girl doesen't want to leave her homeland, and ends up getting stuck to that giant rock? I cannot think of the title at the moment, but those are the kinds of stories that really catch my interest.

@Admins, what's your favorite number? If you have one. I have a whole list of favorite numbers, going in order from most favorite to least favorite. I know, it's weird, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE numbers!!!

I don't think I have one. But if someone says to me, "Quick, give me a number," I'd probably answer "seven."
