My CBversary!

My CBversary!

(I'm a day late let's pretend I can do dates - )

So! My first post ever on the CB was January 12, 2015, when I was a whole ten years old. It had a large quantity of "OMGs," emojis, and "soooooooooo"s. As did my following posts. I also, in my enlightened and eloquent state, wrote the phrase "SO MUCH AWESOMER," as well as "evil thingies," though admittedly I still say "thingy" all the time because how else am I to refer to something?

I'm not super active on the CB anymore, a few people have noticed, and I can tell you've noticed because I got a few happy responses when I posted on the Missing CBers thread. I then proceeded to respond to none of them.

But! For those of you who haven't noticed because you have never met me before, who is this strange human that presents themselves as a saint and what are they doing here acting as if they're someone important, hello! My name is St.Owl. You can call me Owl, St, Saint, Owly, Stowlie, I've heard them all and then some. My pronouns are she/her. I used to be a prominent member of the CB between the ages of eleven and twelve (approx.). I became a quieter but present figure at thirteen, and a serial lurker at fourteen. I'm famous for my fourteen rereadings of the Harry Potter series, as well as my love of RPs that is slowly dying from having no time to write. My favorite shows include Doctor Who, Sherlock, Star Trek (TOS and TNG), A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Good Place, and Agents of SHIELD. I love any and all Marvel movies, think The Princess Bride is a timeless and untouchable classic that cannot be bested by anyone ever, and pledge my soul to 80s bands like David Bowie and Queen. I also adore plenty of other things that I am more than willing to rant about if someone doesn't force duct tape over my mouth.

For those of you who do know me, HELLO! It's lovely to see you and I'm so sorry I haven't been replying when you tell me as much (if you have been)! I have been reading everything people post, but honestly, posting itself has become this exhausting thing in which I can only do it with spur-of-the-moment, sugar-induced inspiration spurred by guilt or fury. I love this place and most of the people here, but I've been so brain-dead exhausted lately that I just. can't participate much anymore.

But! This is a CBversary thread! Let's keep things happy.

I have some shoutouts.

Firstly, to my AWM darlings - you know who you are, though it's very sad that I can only think of two or three people who will actually read this. Thank you so much for everything that you do for me. Listening to my confused ranting, helping my confused ranting, letting me yell at you about how conveluted Latin is, motivating me to do my homework, talking about everything from Sax to the meaning of life, and for in general just being my friends. I don't know what I'd do without you. I've changed so much because you all have been there for me, and I am so, so grateful for it.

Cockleburr, my darling Burry and absolute best friend, you are such a freaking astounding person and you deserve the world. You're always there for me when I'm upset or when I just want to chat. You know exactly what to say to make someone feel better. Your art is so beautiful and it helps me find my stories. Colleges shouldn't be thinking about whether they want you - you should be deciding whether you want them. You're going to be such a fantabulous teacher one day and I wish for you only the best.

Blue Moon, I don't know if you're around much anymore, but Cloud/Cú is a ship worth sailing. Their little awkward I-want-to-flirt-but-don't-quite-know-how conversations were so fun to write and watch and I always looked forward to getting a reply!

Regular participants on the Art Posting Thread, I stalk all of your art and it is all so. beautiful. You're such talented people, every single last one of you, and I get excited every time I see someone new has posted there. I don't think independent shout-outs are possible or polite, but just know that you - yes, you, you budding artist you - are so skilled and your art is so gorgeous and you should just keep doing what you're doing because I assure you, it will be amazing.

Also, to those of you in J.B.E.'s One Hundred Years RP, thank you for being in one of the only RPs I've participated in since . . . months ago! I really enjoyed taking Dariya for her first real spin and it was so fun to see what you all came up with. I hope at one point I'll have enough time to join another RP and maybe have this much fun again.

To the Admins, thank you so much for tirelessly taking time out of your day to look through the CB, post our comments, and run the place. We wouldn't exist if it wasn't for you.

And to everyone on the CB, keep on being you. You are all such lovely people who make up such a brilliant community, and even if I can't be as central to it as I once was, it's still nice to be able to watch it bloom.

So . . . here's to four years! And let's hope for many more. <3
