hello again!
it's me, Starch, returned from the abyss :D I figured since I came back to say hello to woolly, I may as well provide some explanations as well haha.
so I think I've been gone for around... 7 months? which is a crazy amount of time. I just got super busy what with marching band and vacations, and later school, and I kept putting off coming back because I felt like I'd have to make a commitment to be super active again. so I just completely disappeared. but here I am again! I'm not promising that I'll be on here much, but I'll try to check in every week or two, and I might be here without posting sometimes.
also, a lot has happened since I've last been here! I'm a freshman in high school now, which is kind of weird tbh. it was a little bit of an adjustment at first, but it's going pretty well. I also joined the marching band, which is obviously over for now, but the season was a lot of fun. I had covid over winter break which sucked because isolation but I didn't have any severe symptoms :)
anyways I'm glad to be back (sort of)! I missed you all so much :'( for anyone who's new, I joined almost two years ago, was active for about a year and a half and then disappeared with no explanation lol. nice to meet you :)
(also dreamii and Mary, I was so glad to see you on woolly's thread, you don't even know lol! I was afraid you'd both be inactive and I wouldn't be able to talk to you :( still looking for lumi haha)

ok so hi. I haven't been on the cb too much either (i took a huge break once high school started) but i've recently been returning a bit more. My cbversary is coming up so i'm waiting until then to make a return thread.
i hope freshman year has been okay and that you've been practicing your clarinet! i'm still playing trumpet but need to practice more o_0 i miss being able to talk on nano :( but hopefully see you around the cb!

yeah high school takes a lot of time and energy haha! ooh when is your cbversary? I think mine is actually in february sometime, which I completely forgot lol
freshman year hasn't been bad, actually! a little busy, but manageable, and most of the people in my classes are pretty cool :) I have actually been practicing a decent amount, marching band and private lessons kind of got me started again! turns out I am actually able to make myself practice when I have something to practice for.
I miss talking on nano too :( you're a freshman as well, right? how's that going? did you join marching band?

My cbversary is february 6th or 7th. it'll have been 2 years which i can't believe :( buuut i'm a freshman! High school has been pretty good so far, definitely a lot better than middle school. there's a lot more freedom, and since my middle school had only 70 people in a grade and my new school has at least 400, there's a lot more opportunity to meet new people! sadly my school doesn't have a marching band, but we have a really fun pep band :D I need to be practicing more. In fact, I should be practicing right now. But instead I'm going to have some ice cream. farewell to thee! i shalt read thou around! (just went shakespearean for no reason)

oh wow your cbversary is coming up soon!! I think my two year is mid-late february so I guess we joined around the same time haha! yeah my high school is huge compared to my middle school (which was a charter school instead of public tbf). it's sad that you don't have a marching band but pep band sounds great too! our pep band is super informal, pretty much anyone can sign up for whatever weeks they're free. I don't think I'll do it this year but I might next year :) yeah there's always more practicing to be done lol but who needs practice when you can have ice cream :D

Starch! I'm so glad to see you again, even though we didn't talk much. What instrument do you play? I think I remember, but I'm not 100% sure. And your guinea pigs are so cute! I remember your fun, creative energy and hope to see you around a bit : )

it's great to see you too!! I play the clarinet :) I like it a lot, someday I'd like to try bass clarinet and/or oboe as well! yes the guinea pigs are adorable :D and thank you so much! hope to read you around as well!

Ah, that's what I was thinking (about the clarinet). I used to play a little clarinet, but the instrument... pretty much broke and I'm spending my time and money on viola and violin now. I would definitely love to learn the oboe as a side thing, but... I don't have the money and am saving up for a better violin, so that's not going to happen :( I love the oboe and bass clarinet; hopefully you'll be able to learn those soon!!! You don't have to answer to any of this, but what songs are you playing? (I'm assuming you're practicing outside of marching band.)

well violin and viola are pretty awesome (and difficult, from what I've heard)! that's sad about your clarinet though, it sucks when instruments break :( yeah I'm not sure how soon I'd be able to start the oboe/bass clarinet, but someday I'd love to at least try! as far as songs I'm working on, currently we're mostly practicing sightreading in band so there's not much there. for private lessons I just finished part of Concerto 1, Op. 74 by Weber, so I think I'll be getting something new next week! I'm excited for that :)
