Hi everyone! I was just wondering about some of the special characters that only show up in the magazine once in a while. My mom has a gazillion old issues, but I don't feel like going through all of them. If you know of any special characters like Professor Anno or Phillip & Sarah, can you tell me a little about them? I was just wondering, because they don't seem to show up anymore. Thank you! Laughing

 

Professor Anno is a Japanese beetle and curator of the Cricket Country Museum. Philip is a baby cricket and Sarah, a pill bug. They are always arguing about something! Silvery is our warm-weather mermaid friend, and Anna and Marianne are the ants/aunts. They are great cooks!

I didn't know there were special characters like that!  That's so cool.  Maybe you guys should have a contest to make up one.  I would enter that!

I LOVED Cricket as a kid! Back in the 80s, the aunt ants were in every issue, as were Phillip & Sarah. Professor Anno wasn't, but I remember one of the summer adventures involved everybuggy going to a far land to rescue the Professor who was kidnapped by a dragon! (He actually was visiting an alligator who had a vast library and he lost track of time. Her name was Ms. Roarsky, and she was VERY glad for him to leave! **I don't know how I remember all that!**

I think the Professor also was consulted when Ralph (the polar bear caterpillar) was sick. 

I guess there are new characters now, so the older ones (in age and time of appearance) are not featured as much.
