Hey, Cricket! :)

Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

Hey, Cricket! :)

Hey, Cricket! :) Yesterday I went to a botanical garden and heard some of your cousins chirping a beautiful melody! Send them my compliments.....

Spammy says apee. Oh....dear. He did not just say what I think he said. ;)

Thanks, WW. Where was the botanical garden?

It was the Louis Ginter Gardens in VA. Very beautiful....we got to smell purple basil, play in a series of giant houses made out of sticks, walk along a creek on stepping stones, build gnome houses, explore a conservatory, see a koi pond, walk through these amazing arrangments of stones, flowers, fountains and vines, and more! I'll try to upload some pictures from their website, since the ones we took won't upload. Cheating, I know.... ;)

Top! Has anyone else been to any beautiful botanical gardens?

I've been to the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, on Vancouver Island, in late March. It was smaller than I expected, but very beautiful. It was part of a bus tour from Vancouver, BC. The bus traveled to the island on a big ferry boat. We got off the bus while we were on the boat. After visiting the gardens, we had high tea the the Empress Hotel.

I used to live near a botanical garden! It was quite nice, but I don't remember what it was called. I haven't been to one since we moved.

Wow, those pictures are gorgeous, WW!!  That looks like a really beautiful garden.  There is a botanical garden that's just walking distance from my house, but it's definitely not up to that scale.  They have plant sales and a nice nature walk and a children's garden, and that's about it.  It is really nice, though.  However, there's also the Huntington Botanical Gardens that is quite a ways away, but definitely worth the drive.  Those pictures remind me of that.  It has all these different gardens, the Japanese Garden, the Rose Garden, etc.  In addition to the gardens, there is also a library and an art collection.  It's quite a place. :)

There's a library at Ginter, too. :) They have a cafe around the check-in area, and a tea house that's right by the koi pond. Wish ours had more of an art collection....they do have a glass display about once a year, though!
