Then, according to you, what are the best creatures ever and best book series ever? *rests head on hand expectantly*

Tardigrades, of course! And I'm afraid I can't just choose one book series. It's too hard... Well, I think the best fantasy series ever is Lord of the Rings, but I've read nonfiction that might be as good... The series I'm most obsessed with is Harry Potter, but I don't think it's the best.

Best living creatures: At the risk of sounding needlessly anthropocentric (nobody likes needless anthropocentrism), I'd say that we are, Our Lords the Water Bears notwithstanding. (*abandons firstborn on bed of moss*)

As to books: I'm not really ready to give an absolute "this is best," and in fact don't really think that that's necessary, but some that are better than PJ - The Discworld series (particularly the Watch books and, if we're talking YA, the Tiffany Aching books). The Young Wizards books. Heck, even Harry Potter, while not the best series, pwns PJ like whoa. (For the record: LotR is not a series. This is a common misconception. It's one novel, originally divided into three volumes because dude do you know how much it costs to print a book that big? With paper shortages going on? Of course, if it were a series, it would be the best series. Additionally, if it were a space squid, it would be the best space squid.)

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first few PJ books as much as the next person (I hated Last Olympian), but I'm not going to be putting it on a pedestal, because it's just not that great - it doesn't warrant that kind of adulation. Although YMMV of course.

((If I was being completely serious, I'd say that we can't know what the best living creatures are because there are probably aliens somewhere we don't know about that we should consider. Maybe they're all bacteria, but I suppose even probable bacteria deserve to be considered as potential candidates, although I seriously doubt they'd win even if I was the judge. As for known living creatures, I'd say... It depends. If I were to make a list of the top 10 Best Individual, Known Organisms Ever In My Opinion, they would not all be of the same species. Humans woul appear more than once on the list, but not necesarily next to each other, and if I were to make a list of the top 10 Worst Individual Organisms Ever In My Opinion, humans would be common, there, too)). I'm sorry; I was possessed by a wicked demon for a moment. I would never say anything like that while in my right mind; tardigrades would be all the first beings on the list of Best Individual Organisms Ever (Not just in my opinion, in fact), and it would go on as such until all the tarigrades who had ever lived were listed. Ignore the demon; I'll destroy it later.

Even if LotR is not a series, Tolkien wrote other books in that universe (as you know). Perhaps they could be considered a series when taken together? I agree that all the books you listed are better than Percy Jackson. What does YMMV mean?

YMMV means Your Milage May Vary. Basically - you may disagree with me. </tvtropes>

Ooh, ooh, are you going to do an exorcism on yourself? Do I get to watch?

Yes, I suppose it could be. It can't all be referred to as LotR, though, so - best series ever: The Middle-earth Legendarium. (Which isn't technically accurate because that's technically supposed to mean just the works that focus on elves, but let's roll with it.)

Well, since this thread was made to be sort of a joke and I didn't know it would get so many replies, I said things I wouldn't have said if I were having a serious conversation with someone.

1)  I agree with whoever that said it that cats are the best pet, not necessarily the best animal, even. Of course humans are the best living creature because God made us in His image. I don't want to get into Theology now, so let's leave it at that.

2)  Chrysanthemum: Spelling bee word. Although, ironically, I don't know if 'necessarily' is spelled correctly.

3)  I just picked the book series I'm currently interested in.

4)  DOES ANYONE DOUBT THAT I'M AWESOME???????????

Actually I was going to make this quiz longer, but I had to go do something, I think. SOOOOOOO, everybody can post one T/F question! The answer can be a fact, or a matter of opinion.

wrmm = worm?

1) False, although very close. I'd say they're the best pets.

2) True

3) False. PJ was pretty good, but not nearly as good as some other series. Discworld, for example, although I'm only reading the first book. Or HGttG. Or The Sisters Grimm. Or HP, I guess, though that's not really my favorite.

4) Definitely true! :)

Spammy said "maze"! A real word! I wonder if he's lost...
