Chatterbox: Chirp at Cricket

I just found

I just found an issue of Cricket from 1974!! I was looking for something on the bookshelf, and since my mom's been getting Crickets for a long time, I found this. It's really short and fat, with a lot more stories and poems than the new ones, and the whole inside is printed in black, white, and orange. There are also some different buggies in it, like two ants named Marianne and Anna, some little weird bouncing thing, and a whole mob of crickets. Plus, Ugly Bird looks so different! Does anybuggy else have really old issues of Cricket at home?

That weird bouncing thing is probably the flea H.A. Rey. Yes, Cricket has changed over the years.

My school used to get Cricket magazine so I have found multiple old Crickets in my school's basement while digging down there for costumes or art supplies or whatever other strange assortment of things old students have left behind. I found one from 1982, one from 1987, and one with a bunch of pages ripped out from 1976. Plus some (some meaning 3) relatively "recent" ;) ones from 1994, 1999, and 2000.

A good story is eternal. Old Crickets can be enjoyed again and again. Take good care of those magazines, Kim.

Love,

Old Cricket
