I've finally started

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I've finally started

I've finally started running, guys! I run every other day for 20-30 minutes, depending on the Mountain of Homework. I can do about 840m without stopping right now. I'm trying to work my way to 1500m before we start on that. I'm also going to start swimming lengths at the community pool. Any excercisers on here?

I try to go swimming twice a week at our local Y pool. I swim laps for about 30 minutes. Most other days I try to take a brisk walk for about 45 minutes. Or if/when we have enough snow in the winter I go cross-country skiing.

I've started jogging recently! It's pretty fun, though I've learned that eating too much before a jog isn't a good idea. ;) I would like to swim a little more because we have swimming at school and I can't swim that well. I don't get the rhythym of crawl and the technique of the frog-stroke. :D Any ideas? I horseback ride for 45 minutes once a week, too. :)

I've taught swimming and have found that the most important skill is to relax your breathing. Practice breathing in water that's not over your head. Inhale at a relaxed pace, then put your face in the water and blow it out. Surface and take another breath and repeat, just like you're taking a walk. Don't try to take a huge breath because you won't have time to blow it all out and you'll exhaust yourself trying. Do breaths/"bobs" for 5 or more minutes each time you swim. Don't race; there's no hurry. Relax. Once you feel confident that you control your breathing, you should be able to work on your arm and leg strokes, then put it all together.

I hate horseback riding. Horses (the really tall ones) scare me to death when I have to bridle them. :/ But the actual riding is fun. The day after is not. (I went horseback riding for a week and my legs were sore for that week.)

For froggy strokey, or breaststroke which is a more common name here, you pull with the arms, kick, glide for a few seconds, then pull again. For the pull, my coach said you scoop the ice cream, bring it to your sides, then serve it. ;)

Cool you get to ride! I'd loved to do that so much!

Well, I don't swim or walk or anything. I was trying until recently to go out every other day and shoot my bow and to do everyday a series of exercises such as stretches, crunches, and the like.

And then occasionaly when my dog isn't lazy I will run in backyard with him for awhile.

For exercise, I normaly dance.  I take dance lessons, or play a Just Dance game on my Wii.  Sometimes I go outside and exercise out there.  What I do outside can vary.

We have four horses at home, so I ride whenever I'm not overwhelmed with homework. I also ride my bike on a dirt road near our house.

@ Elizabeth M. and Melody, I take Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Contemporary.  As you can probably tell, I love to dance! I have my Spring show coming up. I'm really excited, but my tap dance is a little weird :/ I also like to horseback ride. I take lessons over the summer every year.

In addition to what I wrote in another comment, I am taking a low-key ballet class in the summer with my sister.

Just ran 1440m according to Google Maps. Well, I actually ran it awhile ago. I got caught up with a bunny in my backyard and trying to get the beep test on my iPod (that didn't work). Anyway, I just ran 1440m in a tight, XS aeropastle t-shirt (I am a size S or size M) and some pink ardene capris. Yeah. Does anyone know any good stores for (inexpensive) running clothes? And please don't say Marshalls because there are only 3 here in Ontario I think and they're all far away.

Well I find stuff at sport stores are really expensive so I don't know. I want to buy one of those breathable running shirts that you can get, but it's 30 Euros and that's a lot for one shirt. I don't find that you have to wear clothes that are just made for running. I run in pretty short shorts that are made from light material and if my shirt that I usually wear for running is being washed, I wear a camisole or tanktop. It's not the best, but it's okay. :)

I like a lot of sports-

soccer

running

horseback riding

I play soccer the most.  But, I just got new running shoes so that I can start endurance running.  I used to do horseback riding, but I couldn't do it for a while, and now I want to start again as well as running, and I might coninue soccer. Dunno.
