Hi, Everybody! I

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hi, Everybody! I

Hi, Everybody! I was wondering if anyone else out there had celiac disease or knew anyone who was following a gluten-free diet. I know a lot of people haven't heard of it; it's an immune system disease that is basically an allergy to wheat, barley, and rye. I've had it since I was 11, so I was wondering if anybody else has it.

Poor you!!!!  No, I don't have it, but my Grandma does.  Boy, it sure does make life difficult, doesn't it??  My mom thought she had it, but it turns out that she has to be on a gluten-free diet too sometimes.  I have a cousin who's allergic to practically everything!!!!!!  Some people think she has Celiac (I thought it ended with an "s"), but nobody is sure.

I have a gluten-free diet! Yay! I'm not alone! I don't have allergies to those things, but they do make me sick, so I can't have them. :( My diet is called SCD (Specific Carboyhdrate Diet) and we've been on it ever since my sister, who is three years older than me, was seven. We have problems eating a lot of foods. Like, at parties we have to bring our own food.

AHH!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!! FINALLY!!!! SOMEBUGGY'S HERE WITH AN ONE OF THOSE DISEASES, OR WHATEVER!!!! YAAAA!!!! (well, I'm not happy that you have it, or anything, but I've never met anybuggy else who did!)  I've had Crohn's (I'm still learning how to spell it...) disease since I was 10!!  My grandma has Colitis, or whatever it's called.  That other disease that's in our group.  Sorry, I still eat wheat, barley, and rye...  Right when I was at my sickest point ever, God blessed me by giving me a wonderful camp counselor, named Kat, who has Celiac.  (It was really sad, because all that she could eat was beans.... :(:( )  But, she, "Elizabeth" (who's allergic to peanuts), and I always ate together, and we always had unusual assortments of food. :):) It was sort of funny.  I'd have a salad, Kat would have beans, and "Elizabeth" would have whatever she could find. :):):)

Oh, and I don't really have any specific diet, except that I'm not supposed to eat popcorn (heheheheh....), and I'm a vegetarian. :/

For a while we thought my sister had it. But I used to know a lady who did actually have it.
