Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Found items--

Found items--

Does anyone here like to collect "found items", or the receipts, notes, letters, and journal entries you might find on the street? I try to look for things, but our neighborhood is usually litter-free.

School can yield some more interesting results. Once I found a Post-It that said "Look behind you, a big, shiny, elephant! (TRUE)"

Have YOU found anything weird?

In sixth grade, I discovered a unicorn in my school's B Wing. I was working on a recycling team that met up after school on Thursdays and I went ahead of my group to avoid two very annoying people on the team. And then I ran back to my gorup yelling, "Alina! Alina! There's a unicorn in the B Wing!" She (Alina, the group leader) thought I was kidding but I dragged her over to the B Wing and she said, "Oh my gosh, there's actually a unicorn in the B Wing!"

You see, the art class kids were making projects out of recycled material and someone had made a unicorn and put it outside in the hallway on top of the recycling bin. We couldn't recycle all of the materials, but we tried to do what we could. Later, a group of eighth graders came along and started messing with it.

The next day, we learned that the unicorn was actually a project that was still being worked on. We hadn't been able to do too much to it, so it probably could have been fixed, but it was gone. I think the eighth graders took it. I felt really bad for the boy who had worked on the project.

I found a piece of paper one day that said:

"A-- I love you more each day. --S."

I am not kidding.
