Well, I'm bi-racial . I happen to be half Mexican (my dad, mom's white !) . And since I live in South/Central Texas, I've been raised around Mexicans, and in my household we are raised to know that we're Hispanic! (:
Ha, Anyway, 'La Chancla' is an object we get popped w. aaall the time, aha, and a buncha other kids too! But it doesn't stop there .. been hit w. a paddle, spoon, spatula, pen, sneaker, had to brush my teeth w. soap for saying a 'bad word', and muuuuch more over the years .
So I was wondering what yall's tias / aunts , tios / uncles , abeula / grandma , mom & dad have hit you w. ? Lol or washed your mouth out w. ?
Haha, kind of a random topic, but a few of my friends I were talkinn' bout it after church last night! (:

The last time I got hit with anything was two years ago. My dad hit me with a bike glove because I had accidentally dried it. Bike gloves, for the record, should be hung up to dry, not put in a dryer.
Kind of random, but ever so often I'll go to have lunch with my tias (well, they're my great-aunts. But everyone calls them the tias.) and I love how they chatter away in Spaenglish and they call everyone mija and mijo! I don't even know if they know my name! Well, I'm sure they do. Everyone in my family does, but I can't keep track because I have two great-aunts, eight great-uncles, and about three thousand second cousins. They somehow manage to keep everyone's names straight, but my mom has to lecture me on family relationships before we go to any family gatherings.

Aha , but I know how you feel ! My Abeulita ( now in Heaven ) had 13 kids , and they all have kids , and those kids have kids , and some of those kids have kids . So I completly understand !

Ummmm I don't know. My parents don't really hit me but my dad used to very rarely right after he and my mom got divorced but not anymore. Washed my mouth out....nope nothing there. I DO curse (probably more than I should) but my parents don't care as long as I don't curse in the house. Of course if I were ever to curse at my dad's parents' house I'd DEFINITELY have to wash my mouth out. My dad's parents are strict.

Hmm. I've got a lot of relatives, most of which I've never met. I don't really swear (out loud), since I use what are considered "old fashioned" language to depict my anger. The last time I was hit... was with a Barbie doll (someone got mad at me for decapitating them. They were like the PETA for Barbies!). Never had to have my mouth washed out, thank goodness for that!

I never got spanked much as a child, mostly because I was really good at wriggling out of it (mother promised to spank my sister and me a lot more often than she actually did). Punishments for me are usually of the "well we'll stop paying for your college tuition if you don't do XYZ" variety, and/or manual labor.
The last time I was punished physically was because I had a panic attack at the eye doctor's after he poked me in the eye while trying to dialate my pupils for the first time. Mother drove me back the two hours from the office, bought some saline drops at the grocery store, and then pinned me on the couch and rubbed them into my eyes with her thumb. And then denied it ever happened after the swelling went away.

My family is pretty small, and we don't get together that often, so it's very easy to keep straight. Although my friend's dad is Mexican and they talk Spanish half the time over there and I'm the only one in the entire house, including the dog, who doesn't speak Spanish.

I was spanked a lot as a child. I was a fiesty one. ;)
Other than that, the only other thing I think I've been hit with is a rolled-up newspaper for making some comment I probably shouldn't have.

Aha ohh I have another one . A belt, a hairbrush ( which i got hit w. last night actually ) .. oww , lol .
