Congratulations, S.E.!

Not wanting to dampen any spirit in this thread, but can someone please describe what exactly is baptism? I've asked my father, who grew up as a Christian, but want different opinions and also answers from people my own age.

Baptism is when we are blessed to receive God's life in us, grace, in our souls. The Sacrament of Baptism also removes the Original Sin, the fall of Adam and Eve, from our soul. This may differ from different Christian beliefs, but this explanation is from my Catholic faith.

The Bible says the Holy Spirit is like water . And we get Baptized in water , so it's  like being baptized in the Holy Spirit . It's a physical declaration of being made new in Christ and our sins being cast as far as the East is from the West ...

We are supposed to baptize in the Name of the Father , Son , and Holy Spirit ..

I was baptized twice .. once when I was 4 at my old church , which was a Baptist church . I then again got baptized in 2011 ( I was 11 ) at my current church , which is inter-denominational .

Hm. I always thought people got baptized when they were younger. I got baptized when I was a year or two so... I never really thought much of it. But then again, I'm not religious in any aspect.

Still, congrats S.E.!

Many churches do baptize infants, with parents and godparents making promises to guide the child. Then confirmation follows when the child is old enough to understand the beliefs of the church.
