Google. Nosing it's

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Google. Nosing it's

Google. Nosing it's way into our lives since it started.

SO out of curiosity, I Googled Blackberry Elf-Glitter. WOW. There's like every review she's ever posted on the library website, just wow. Then I Googled my fairy name, and everything I've ever done with that name came up on like the first page. *face palm*

So then I google Emma Dolohov, and scroll down (the pictures part is of Antonin Dolohov lol) I find one Chatterbox post.

So now I'm Googling you guys. Joe, I already know what happens when I Google you, so I googled Everinne. The first two results were for the CB, the rest were unrelated. Not so bad.

So I'm Googling my usernames, and it's getting seriously wrong.

Moral of the story. Don't write things you will regret, and choose a generic name.

And Google, sometime I'm going to be Googling something, and this is going to come up. So thanks for being here to make us all feel really self concious. (NOT)

How many of you even knew you were on Google BTW?

I did. Out of curiousity, I googled my CB name. Every link that came up was a post I made on the CB. While I'm always extremely cautious of what I say about myself that could any way help lead someone to me, it's a good reminder to know nothing is completely safe. I trust the CB since the Admins are careful not to let us slip things (and for that Admins, me and my mom are really grateful), but I still think about everything I've just written before I post it. It's always good to be in general practice of that, no matter the site.

That is interesting. I tried mine but I got a million pictures of butterflies instead.

Since I use my real name, nothing for the CB came up .

But if you Google my dad's name ( wait or maybe it's our last name .... ) a picture of our family pops up . Like one of the first pictures . It's because that's the picture that's on both of our websites ( my parents own two businesses ) but it's still funky .

I Googled myself once before, but it's all just CB stuff. I really do astonishingly little on the Internet.

When I google my name a bunch of businesses pop up, since my name is kind of old-fashioned. When I google "Maggie the Whovian" I think a few CB posts pop up.

When I google my 6th grade humanities teacher's full name, a picture of her pops up.

My CB screen name is so common elsewhere I couldn't get any of my posts on the first page!

Yes! I googled Cricket Chatterbox Nina and some of my posts popped up. Plus, if you click Images some of my buggie drawings are there! Smile

I'm fairly aware of what google searches lead to me. If you type in my real, generic name, a couple of different people show up but some of my webpages show up, which is pretty cool. If you type in my CB username you'll get nothing. Theo W Chatterbox gets a couple of my things. When I need to find a thread sometimes I'll do a google search with usernames, Chatterbox, and whatever the thread was about.

Guys. Use different names on each website so weird people can't google you and find out your whole life. Internet safety!

Good idea.

Dragons don't really use the internet all that often though

I only show up on Google as Moss on the Chatterbox, something similar on Pinterest, and Moss the Ravenclaw on my NaNo accounts. I don't have any pictures of me with my real name either... just some mentions that I won a medal in summer track :)

I went to Google (It's Audrey Hepburn's 85th birthday, apparently) and searched my CB name.  The Internet seems to think I am some sort of bald demon... hmmm.

Then I googled my NaNo username and got to my nano pages on the first try.  After that it's just 'Bookworm's review of The Penultimate Peril', which is kind of hilarious.

When I google my real name, who comes up is a relative who we know and wasn't born with my last name.  Then there's a person born in approximately 1904 with a last name similar to mine and the same first name and middle initial.

Then I decided to google my real name and the name of my town, and the first couple links are to school things from science fairs and stuff.  Then there's a PDF of a newspaper from 1931 with a report by (insert real name) "Domestic Science Expert" about Old World Recipes with instructions for how to make Russian Beets, Rice with Mint and Rolled Cucumbers.  Some further exploration reveals that this Domestic Science Expert had an actual column in a newspaper.

I have strange Googlegangers.

Oooh, Russian Beets! Do you have any good soup recipes?
