Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Debate clubN

Debate club

Nora's and Dragon Girl's debate clubs died, so I'll start a new one. The only rules are that there is no judging, and you have to respect other members.

Here's the first debate topic: homeschool vs. public school.

Have fun!

*Opens the door* Sorry I'm late, am I too late for tea?
If not, may I have some please (two lumps of sugar please, thank you)? If so, oh well

I shall take Home. .*Puts cloak on a peg, and grabs the chair between Blonde Heroins Rule and S.E.*
Okay, I am strongly agent Publicschool because:
-- It's just as likely to make friends when you're Homeschooled as it is when your Publicschooled:
1. In Publicschool you can't talk to each other (unless it's lunch).
2.  Well, there is no two in this case.
-- In Publicschool there are noises, and distractions, and you can't learn the way you need to learn, and, you don't get one-on-one, time with your teacher, even if your mind doesn't learn like other minds. (That's how it is with me, I can't learn Math properly.)
Tah-tah, for now dears, I have a casserole pie, in the oven!

You can in fact get one-on-one time with your teacher, by the way. It't just harder to come by.

I'm with Bookbug on everything she said.

Well again, in the area of needing help with subjects, parents often help kids with these things, and when they can't, there is always tutoring, which public school students and homeschoolers alike both have to do. Teachers don't really have a whole lot of time to help individually.

As to real world, homeschoolers get a lot of that same interaction of having to work with others. We have co-ops, where we work alone and with groups, and we have to get projects done together and on time. Even online schools have it where you have to pair up with one or more other students to complete an assignment.  Plus, outside activities, like dance, sports, etc. help to teach cooperation and working as a unit. We may do our schooling at home, but that doesn't mean we don't know or learn real world skills to get places in life. For instance, like many public school students do, homeschoolers also often duel enroll at their local community college during their high school years to get a jump start on college credits. Some even graduate with their AA at the same time they graduate high school.

Okay, I just thought of this point in the shower yesterday (don't you have your best ideas in the shower? I totally do).

Has anyone heard of online public school? You can probably do it at home in your PJs. That's all I have.

It's called Siberschool (did I spell that right?, my big brother does it. I might too, when I'm older :( I don't really want to do it though. Oh well. Ho hum, right? I'll just be glad I have what I do now.

Might it be Cyber School?

I don't really want to do this anymore. Too many people. Nano. It's not so much fun when there's so many people all bombarding you with half a dozen points a day. Maybe if there were more people for public, maybe if I didn't have so much Nano. Sorry, peeps.

Did admin change that? It could be a little differeent, but....

Instead could we do: Should you start dating before or during high school?

Yes, I deemed an earlier proposal inappropriate for Chatterbox.

High School. I might stat dating at 16. Might. I think older though. How ever, I will not get married till after I'm 25, if thats what you mean xD.

Ps,
Admin, when you said, that you didn't want earlier proposals, did you
mean, like, I don't know how to say it, but like, when your... 17 (for
example) you think it's too inappropriate, for the Chatterbox? I'm just
wondering if that's what you were saying. Sorry for all the questions!

~Winter Firefly

Admin: I think the other Admin meant that someone suggested another topic prior to the dating discussion, but it seemed inappropriate for the CB!

Okay, since this dating topic is kind of a problem, what do you guys think of this one, "Do you agree or disagree with illegal immigrants?"
