Running - XC & or track

Okay , so i'm a runner . Last year I was a sprinter , and this year i'm still in sprinting but in different events . I'm doing the 200 and the 400 , and I'm contemplating doing the 100 again . The first day of practice , my 100 was 17 even . At the State meet last year , it was 16.56 . The first day of pratice my 200 was about 40 . My PR last year was 35.35 . So I have a question . However , on Friday we re-timed everything and my events were significantly slower . Do any of my fellow runners have any advice for shaving off time ? Our first meet is March 7th , so I'm really nervous I won't be up to par . And we only have  3 meets , so I really need to do well . Thanks .

I am a runner too, cross country and track. Has it been a while since you have last trained? I am always a little rusty at the beginning of the season. My advice is this, a college runner I know told me once that if you "kill yourself" once you will be that fast. This means push yourself pretty hard once and you will be able to run that fast naturally after. (I don't know if it really works, my friend did it and got really fast after but she was also training hard so . . .)  Just be REALLY careful you don't hurt yourself, STRETCH A LOT!

I stretch a lot , and drink a lot of water . Yes , it's the beginning so hopefully by the end I'll be better . Thanks for the advice (: I've been having trouble pushing myself .
