Illness Awareness!

Illness Awareness!

Okay so this thread is for prayer requests , complaing about being sick, and all those things.  I am making this for the purpose of Taylor Swift's mother, who was recently dianosed with cancer.  Tomorrow, Monday April 13th, is an awareness and support day for this. I would love if you wore blue and a heart drawn on your hand.  So go on! Pray, rant, whatever away.

April 2nd was Autism Awareness Day. Most the kids at my school wore blue and one of the staff has a child with autism so she gave anyone wearing blue an autism ribbon sticker. I own 2 shirts that I bought from a store nearby that say "I supported autism awareness" and then they have the puzzle piece design. (one is this year's version and one is last year's).

Also, October is breast cancer awareness month.

May is Celiac Awareness Month, and September 13th is Celiac Awareness Day. Since I have celiac disease myself, I encourage all of you to wear your light green! Spreading the knowledge can help to promote the discovery of a cure.

Stephen Hawking.

He has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or motor neuron disease. Over the decades, it has paralyzed him, and now communicates through a SINGLE CHEEK MUSCLE attached to a speech synthesizer. He is facing the possibility of locked-in syndrome, where the sufferer is aware but cannot move or communicate in any way except for the eyes.

We hope for a speech synthesizer that uses brainwaves, or even better, a cure. Think about it: one of the world's most brilliant minds as well as one of the world's most immovable bodies.

I have Cold Urticaria. It is kind of like you are allergic to cold. If I swim in really cold water, I will break out in big red bumps and my ankles will turn blue. It is getting a lot better though! Yes, this sort of allergy thing can get better. Snow causes it too, thank goodness I don't live somewhere like Alaska! It usually starts by my chin getting really itchy.

I wear blue every day. I wear jeans so much that if I don't wear blue jeans (because I have no other jeans) Butterfly asks if I've gone insane. If I wear a dress, she backs up slowly and tells my she's calling 9-1-1.

This isn't really "a disease." My brain is... just.... different.

I'm gifted. There are myths. Everybody is gifted. Being gifted is a guarantee to Easy Street.

But they are not true.

You know those people who drop out of high school? Who are addicted to drugs and alcohol and are depressed and don't want to live any more? Yeah, a lot of those people are gifted.

Sure, everyone has talents. But not everyone's gifted. Gifted people's brain anatomy is different. I should know.

And is it a good thing?

Failing tests because I find mistakes in the questions?

Getting sent to the principal for correcting the teacher?

Melting down in art class when my drawings aren't perfect?

Feeling like nobody understands?

Being highly sensitive?

Being mistaken for autistic?

Slumping in my chair and getting a D in participation?

No. I hate it. I wish I weren't gifted. I wish it didn't matter if butter was salted or unsalted. I wish it would all go away.

But it can't.

So, I'm just going to have to trust in God's plan for me, I guess.

'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope, and a future.'

-Jeremiah 29:11
