The Inkwell.

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

The Inkwell.

The Inkwell

...is getting a bit too crowded. I didn't even post this there, because I'm sure it would get swept down to the second or third page very quickly. I know it's the most popular "district", and I know everything in there that's not dead gets posted on a lot, but...

If you have a good idea for an RP or something, maybe you should save it. Write it down on a word document or something, and keep it to yourself until there's fewer RPs going on. Because it's not fun to see something I care about in there get pushed down so quickly by the torrent of RPs that invaded the Inkwell. I'm not going to point fingers, but there's quite a few prominent ones that are pushing all the others down.

So please, stop making new RPs for a while. I'm not asking that we all stop posting on the ones that already exist; that would be silly. Just try to hold off on new ones, save your ideas, and pray that none of them will run as long as LakeClan did.

Okay?

No offense to anybody in this matter, but this is my opinion.

1. I think the number of RP's is fine, I think it's great that we have so many RP's. I for one ( I don't know about anybody else) but I don't mind clicking "2" to see other RP's going on.

2. Why wouldn't we want any thread to last as long as Lakeclan? Lakeclan (in my opinion) was a great success (even if I wasn't part of it) and I think all threads should have a long life like Lakeclan.

3. Anybody who does wrote their ideas down, half of them never get used by yes the quick ride of new RP's after current ones die.

4. And yes HAB, I don't like the current need to top my RP that hasn't even started yet, but maybe after this wave of RP's, all RPers only have one RP each Cber.

What do you think Adimins?

It's fine to have as many RPs going as you all have time to support. But I really like to follow the RPs that go on for a reasonable amount of time and develop a good story. It seems there are so many characters created by enthusiastic CBers that never really participate much in the RPs.

l agree with Admin.

....However, l can never recall any time in which the Inkwell was not very active. It is pretty annoying for me (whom is pretty busy) to have the slower RPs pushed down several pages back just because they haven't been posted on in a day or two. l like slower things.

Cyclone says zbmy. Zoo boat, oh my!

l see.

I think you misunderstood me, Maple. Or maybe I didn't make myself clear enough. I'm not saying I dislike how many posts these RPs have; that's great! I'm glad people want to participate and help create awesome stories. But... only to a point. (More about that later.)

What annoys me is how these RPs with tons of posts keep pushing the other, newer ones down. The only reason I'm saying "wait to make more RPs" is because the slower RPs with less posts - but not necessarily worse ideas or stories - always get shoved to the bottom by the super popular ones everyone's posting on. And the new RPs with great potential that people create always seem to suffer the same fate.

I'd like that to stop happening. I know it won't, but I'd like it to.

And, to answer your question, why wouldn't we want something as long as LakeClan? Because in my opinion, LakeClan was dragged out, and unnecessarily so. I don't think an RP should be that long. I mean, come on, 1,000 posts? If you need that many posts to finish an RP, maybe you should reconsider the storyline behind it, how many people are allowed to join, etc.

What I'm saying is, everything dies eventually, and LakeClan resisted that inevitable truth. It was dragged on and stretched out to the point where it got boring and irritating, almost causing the same thing to happen in the BaB that is currently happening in the Inkwell. The only reason that didn't really happen is because the BaB is probably less "popular" than the Inkwell, so new threads still had those two or three lower spots to fill in.

I don't think it was a huge success. I know it's the longest thread in CB history, but that's only because the people who started it and joined it refused to let it die off and refused to let other threads and RPs have some space. I don't see that as a good thing. Sorry.

But hey, that's just my opinion. Why should I care, anyway? It's not like I ever join RPs. I just hate to see a great section of the Chatterbox that's filled with creative people being drowned in waves of newer RPs that die almost as quickly as they were born.
