Peter Liang was an Asian American rookie cop who shot a wall unintentionally and the bullet bounced off the wall, down a stairwell, and killed an African American teenager named Akai Gurley.
Despite the fact the numerous white police officers had purposely killed black people and gotten off, Liang, (Leeong), an Asian American, was charged to the fullest extent of the law.
This is an example of racism in our community, injustice that needs to stop.
How is it fair that white police get to directly shoot people and get off, yet Asian people can't even shoot walls?
Mei, I'm very glad that you brought this up. In our current political climate, this is an important topic. If you're interested in doing something about it, there are organizations like NAPAWF (the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum) that are doing some good work for Asian American people, women in particular. ~Admin

Nobody hate me. I think that it's so stupid the way that people are treated because of their OUTWARD APPEARANCE. Its idiotic.
And yet.
From the articles I've read about this (which MAY or MAY NOT have been biased, I don't know) there was some fault in Liang's actions. Not shooting him accidentally, that couldn't be helped, but his reaction after. He didn't call for help, and it was recorded that all he did was start panicking about losing his job.
REPEAT: I AM NOT BLAMING HIM.
If I had been in that situation, I definitly would have called for help, even if I was still in shock. He didn't know CPR, so he couldn't help, but he aslo didn't call for help.
I am furious at the idiots who let white police officers get away with everything. They're idiots. It hurts me that it's come to the point where boxes are formed in a way where white people are know just referred to as arrogant, and it's fine for people to get shot.
The entire stupid government is skewed horribly.
And it's unfair for everybody.
Especially since Donald Trump said that if he shot somebody,he wouldn't lose any supporters.
And if that's the attitude of people in this country, I'm moving to New Zealand.
Anyone care to join me?
New Zealand seems like a pleasant enough place. I think I would move there to get away from America as well. ~Admin

Yes, I'd love to go to New Zealand! I did a report on it in third grade and judging from my research, it seems like a perfect place for me, especially with all the birds. It's kind of funny, a few nights ago my family was discussing what would happen if Donald Trump was elected and we all agreed (even my grandpa, but my grandma's dead) to move to New Zealand.

This is so stupid. No matter what Liang did afterwards, HE DID NOT SHOOT THAT KID INTENTIONALLY. WHOEVER WAS IN CHARGE OF THIS IS STUPID.
Trump is another matter entirely. He is completely prejudiced against all races against whites. ONCE AGAIN, STUPID. I am white, but I have friends who are not white. I have Chinese friends, African American friends(who happen to be Muslim, but that's a whole different matter), and tons of white friends besides! What kind of world do we live in?!? How did we come to be so divided among ourselves?!? Most importantly, WHY WHY WHY WHY?!?!?!?!

Thinking back on what I just wrote, I just want to say I don't mean to offend anyone by that last bit. I'm, tired, it's late, and this story made me so mad I just started typing in the spur of the moment. I love you guys waaaaay more than you know, but I believe that when Jesus comes back, there will be no more racism or predjudice junk like this, and everything will be perfect. I just wish it was that way NOW.

I heard that Peter Liang was charged guilty, but they actually didn't put in in prison! :) They just put him under house arrest. However, I think it's obvious that he was innocent.

Well, I'm sure they had their reasons. Where was this? Are you sure the media didn't warp the story in any way? Did Peter Liang get on house arrest because he was handling a gun the wrong way? Why in the world did his teacher give him the answers? And how did he end up shooting a wall? He obviously didn't have his gun on safety, and he was obviously not being careful with it. There has to be more to this story.

I don't trust media anymore, because Trump has to be winning somehow, so...
I think there is more to the story. He was charged with second degree manslauhter, criminally negligent homicide, econd degree assault, reckless endangerment, and two counts of officiall misconduct.
