Violins!I ho

Violins!

I hope that I don't seem mean, excluding other instruments, I just thought that some other people might play the violin and would want to talk about it (like me). Example of what you can do: share the music you are playing.

I am playing:

-Music from 'Pirates of the Caribbean' (1st violin)

-The School of Violin-Technics

-French folk song: to practice 3rd position

-Creatures

-Minuet 1 (for a talent show)

-Brandenburg Concerto, No. 3 (2nd violin) (for an audition)

-Contredanse (1st violin)

Recently, I played part of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.

I usually play 1st violin.

So, what are you playing?

-Natalie

The orchestra in which I play first violin played Symphony No. 2 by Sibelius and Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E Minor on our recent May concert. Now I'm taking a break till we resume rehearsals for our Sept. concert, Afternoon in Paris and Vienna.

I can play the violin, but I haven't for about a year. I think I learned how to play Minuet, but I don't remember now. :( I'm thinking of starting again. :)

Ooh! I play violin! I love it so much, it's super fun. I also play cello and piano, but violin is where my heart is. I've been playing since I was six, and now I'm working on Corelli's La Folia. It's an amazing piece. Look it up and listen to it! I wish we could post recordings on CB... then we could all listen to each other's music!

Ohmigosh Admin you play in an orchestra? That's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, our community orchestra. It keeps me playing. I've also played for some local musicals, which is fun. I played the musical part of the Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof (not on the stage or a roof, just from the pit). Another show I loved with really beautiful music is Showboat.

I have been playing violin for two years.

The school year I just finished, 6th grade...in 6th grade, there were different orchestras. In order of level from least to greatest: Beginning, Advanced, Sinfonia, and Chamber.

In 7th grade, there are 3 levels you ccan be in: Intermediate, Sinfonia, and Chamber.

In 8th grade, there are 3 levels you can be in: Intermediate, Sinfonia, and Chamber.

Technically, there are only 6 individual orchestras: Beginning 6th, Advanced 6th, Intermediate 7th, Intermediate 8th, Sinfonia, and Chamber (Sinfonia and Chamber are made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders).

Sorry if this is confusing.

Anyway, during 6th grade, I was in Advanced (so that's the 3rd highest orchestra a 6th grader can be in). I was 1st chair, 2nd violin.

I tried out for Sinfonia, to do in 7th grade. The test was very difficult.

BUT I GOT IN!!!!!!!

I am overjoyed. So when school starts again, and I am in 7th grade, I will be in Sinfonia, the second highest orchestra in the school.

I am very happy, and will be practicing over the summer.

Congratulations, Owlgirl!

I started in elementary school, where there is one Orchestra and one Band. In middle school, there is one normal Orchestra, plus a Chamber Orchestra that you can also be in as an extra. There is also a Band. In middle school for me, I don't get as many 'specials' as people who aren't in Orchestra or Band, because we have Orchestra every other day. It's worth it: because I love playing my violin in Orchestra.

I'm not going to say what grade I am in, though.

Are we allowed to talk about other instruments too?

Also, my brother plays the cello.

Luna says omcp. Omg? What, did you see Nico or something?

*Shut up.*

I don't play violin, but I play cello and I love it so much. Sometimes violin just gets a little too high for me. I played a lot in 6th grade, but at my new school they only have Chamber Strings after school for 30 minutes on a Friday for orchestra people to play, so it's really frustrating to see my brothers, who play band instruments, get better because they have band, while I can't.

Luckily I just started private lessons so hopefully I can start improving again instead of playing really easy songs with people who think they're really hard and don't play them right anyways.
