Reading Over Shoulders

Reading Over Shoulders

Does anyone else have this bad habbit? I know most of us are avid readers. But are you sometimes just too excited (like me)? I mean, my brother reads The Westing Game and I'm like "what part are you at?" "Where are you at now?" I already had read the book, but I just have this habbit of looking over his shoulder and re-reading it and asking questions. He usually throws me off the bed :P

Another time we were waiting and reading, and I had finished my book (The Boy Who Knew Everything) and he was reading another book (Switched), so I just plopped down behind him and started re-reading. And this morning he wouldn't show me the cover of the book he was reading, so I looked over his shoulder and started picking out the names of characters ("Ruby? Otis? Do I know any characters named Ruby and Otis?") and he was like yes you do, Otis is in The Westing Game. So of course I start yelling:

"The Westing Game! The Westing Game!" And making wild grabs at the book. Then I remember that there wasn't a Ruby in The Westing Game.

"Does this have anything to do with The Westing Game at all?"

"No."

"Will you show me what you're reading?"

"No."

I'm going to look up online lists of books which has characters named Ruby and Otis now. Does anyone else have this habit?

That's so me. There was this book series my brother and I were both reading, and he got the second book first. He was sitting and reading it, and I was standing behind him and trying to read over his shoulder. He would move his head to one side to block me, and I would move my head the other way to be able to see, then back and forth until nobody could get any reading done. Ookz says ydnp. I was hoping I could connect that to this thread, but, uh, yeah. Nevermind.

This is so very much me. I don't catch people reading often (why don't people like to read?). But when I do, I just get a little too much on their nerves. If I ever catch someone reading I walk over, sit down right next to them, and say, "What are you reading?" Often, they give me this look of, "The crazy book girl is back" and answer bluntly, title only. Then sometimes I get really lucky and run across one of my book nerd friends reading, I'll do the same thing, and we will go into a full-fledged discussion on the book, favorite characters, the worst deaths, sad parts, good parts, and the likes. But that is rare. Finding people reading is rare in general.

I do, occasionally. Not often, but usually when Coco has a book I desperately wish to read at lunch/breakfast (Or I want her to read so we can talk about it), then I'll peek over her shoulder and be like,

"Are you done yet?"

"No."

*I leave room for five minutes*

*I come back*

"Are you done yet?"

*Coco sighs*

"No, I haven't."

Yeah. This goes on for quite awhile most of the time.

I do that! Someone will be reading something I really, really love, and I'll ask them what part they're on.

I so do this! Probably over half of the books Ellie (my sister) reads were recommended or already read by me, so I'm always asking what part she's at and stuff. One time, I was near the end of reading Harry Potter, but she had just started, so I gave her a name for each book. The first book's name was Tom Riddle, but I don't remember most of them. Also sometimes in 5th grade I read over this girl's shoulder who sat in front of me because she read all the same books I did, but thing was, she was a really slow reader and I'm a really fast reader, so I would finish the page then have to wait 3 minutes at least for her to finish. It was kinda frustrating...

I do this a lot, and it happens when someone is on the computer as well.

I once had this friend, and we'd sit on the bus to Chinese school together, and she was really into Warriors, so she'd bring the book on the bus and read. She would let me read along, but since I was a superspeed reader, I'd sit on the right and we'd hold a few pages in between us, so I could read a few pages ahead of where she was reading. We'd have to twist to the side to read the vertical pages, but she was nice. :)

*has exactly the same problem*

I do this too, and it annoys the heck out of my sister.Sometimes I steal people's books when they leave the room or something and then give them back when they return. I can't really help it- I'm called A Curious Dragon for a reason!
