Zootopia Discussi

Zootopia Discussion FANS

Okay, so I watched Zootopia a few days ago and I have a lot to discuss about it. The good, the bad, and the ugly. In other words, movie technical errors, the topics they covered (WOW on that), characters, moments, everything.

Also, who here agrees they should make a second Zootopia? And covering what major social topic?

Basically, this thread is to discuss everything Zootopia related. So let's begin!

I LOVE THAT MOVIE SO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll post a big, long positive rant on Zootopia (I'm the activist girl, remember?) later, but for now, I'm going to complain about it.

What really annoys me is that in that peace rally scene where a pig shouts, "Go back to the forest, predator!" and she replies that she's from the savanna, everyone connects it to people saying, "Go back to Africa".

See if you can figure out why.

Yes, that was really annoying. Also the more... technical error of the movie where multiple times something would be out of their hands (like the case) and left somewhere, then magically appear out of nowhere in their hands later. Like when the train blew up, I didn't see the case, and Nick somehow just had it. He doesn't have pockets or a bag, so...

But the technical stuff doesn't bug me as much. And I could put out a HUGE rant on the positive messages within the movie, but I'll wait.

Also, PokeMaster here, please move this up, Admin!

I love that movie! Has anyone seen the sheep in the blue van Easter Egg? I also predicted it was the little sheep-Meriwether, is it? Because it didn't add up--why was she helping them find the timberwolves when later you see her talking to the Mayor about the infected animals!

I, admittedly, are a little sheepish (excuse the pun) and embarassed that, at first, I didn't get the whole...um...racism theme. I do appreciate it that Disney took such a big stand against Racism--wether you be white, yellow, black, brown, or any skin color.

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!!

Who's your favorite charecter? Mine's Gazelle!

I really love the 'so let it go.' joke. Did anyone get that? When one of my friends was watching it, it was at a Drive-in movie, and the screen sometimes went black, and, guess what? It went black when Judie was with the Naturalists and was like--"They're NAKED?!" so all of the audience who had never watched it had no clue what was going on!

I love Zootopia and everything about it!

Sheep in the blue van Easter egg... I am not 100% sure because the movie was rented and kept on skipping parts. So maybe. My favorite character - without a DOUBT - is Nick. The best, sly little creature.  Zootopia's definitely going on my favorites list!

I think it was great, but I have two main things. One is the plot-- I agree, the racism idea is amazing, but I thought it was a bit too predictable. I think having Bellweather as the "bad guy" was a good idea, but just a very Disney/Pixar move: having someone who seems so helpless being evil. I think they really could have tried something different, as this is usually what that kind of movie leans toward.

The other thing was the character development on two people in particular. One was Gideon Grey. I understand they had to change him in order  to reveal the whole "night howlers" idea, but he was changed much too dramatically. Starting from his very sincere and formal apology to Judy, he was turned inside out and backwards without any real reason why and that ticks me off.

The second was Bellweather herself. She went from this flustered, overworked, "glorified secretary" to this evil villain plotting to get rid of all the predators in Zootopia. I understand she could be a very good actress, but it would be really difficult to keep up for years and, like with Grey, there was a very sudden change that was never fully explained.

Oh, did I say that was the last thing? I lied! I found Mr. Big's daughter incredibly annoying. Mr. Big himself was awesome-- I really loved the "Godfather" idea-- and the daughter asking him to not ice Judy was okay. But to go as far as to name her child after Judy-- that was desperation by scriptwriters to bring her in again.

Maybe I'm being negative. But I just wanted to write it down.

I think the fact that they actually put Judy's earbuds in her ears was an improvement. Animated animals with stick-up ears never have them placed in the right spot. That's all I have to say. Bye.

I loved that movie!!!!

Yes there were definitely a LOT of pretty intentional racial messages in there, in many many ways. And the movie came out around a troubled time, so we definitely noticed. Also (sorry Admins) some drug references, what with the night howlers.

I didn't like the Naturalist part because I feel like it wasn't necessary. It seemed like more of one of those ideas the people came up with while creating the animal world..."Hey, I wonder what that would be like for animals? Lol that's so funny let's put it in."

But overall I really liked the movie. I love Judy. :) Especially when she outsmarts Nick.

Ah yes, Judy... Her cleverness was amazing! Although personally, my favorite has to be Nick. Sly little thing he is.

It's called a hustle, sweetheart.
