Future jobs!

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Future jobs!

Future jobs!

Or the age old question of: "What do you want to do with your life?" As asked by peers, parents, principals and professers. (And now yours truely.)

Personally, l'd like to join the Air Force or Army (may not be able to because of bad eyesight, but hey, never know if you don't try)

If not, then second choice would be something with films. Because producing/making films is awesome and l'd love to be a part of that.

Third, athlete/backcountry guide/explorer. l'd love to do this, but......l'm not actually too eager about it's going to happen.

Annnnd lastly....if all else fails, writer. l don't really want to do it as a job, despite being fairly good at it, l don't feel like l'd be able to make a living off of it, or stick with it for all of my adult life.

So--what is your dream job? What's your more-realistic-still-dream-job? :)

I would either like to be a nun... Or a writer... Or a wildlife rehabilitator. I am helping out at a wildlife sanctuary, and it's awesome!

I want to be a Rabbi and the owner of a Jewish camp.

Despite agreeing with you, Shadow, I might like to be a writer. But then there's those problems of money...

Maybe a veterinarian? I don't really like doing doctor stuff, though, just working with animals.

A graphic designer, perhaps? Or some form of digital artist? Like one of the people who works on animated movies.

I don't really know... when I was little I really wanted to be an Olympic gymnast, or a famous snowboarder, but I realize now that I've started too late... if I had my priorities right when I was say, seven, and my mom and dad had enough money to let me do year-round gymnastics classes, and I kept at it, I might have at least become a competitive gymnast... but I think it's too late now.

Cho: XD, Daisy, I don't think you'd make it far with being a nun, due to your romantic side ... But hey! you might surprise me!

Coco: I'd want to be:

A. A dog trainer!

B. Vetranarian?

C. Well, you get the idea. Something to do with animals.

D. And if all else fails, a writer.

Cho: Pffft.

1. Authoress.

2. Authoress. (Okay, in reality, something that I could do with my art.)

3. Authoress (Breeding dogs. That's a secret ambition of mine. I'd like to recreate my dog's breed (though he's a mutt, I'd like to make it an AKC recognized breed) because that would be awesomely-amazing.)

Sloth and Swift say "rdmn". Randomness? OK, Swift, that's not nice to call what I want to be when I grow up "Randomness".

I want to be a Broadway triple threat and an editor of Middle Grade fiction, because COPYEDITTING IS SO FUN!

Ooof. I get asked this question a lot, and frankly... not really sure.

I'd like to be a fantasy author, because making books that people read and I like appeals to me so much.

Secondly, more realisticly, a scientific journalist. It involves both writing and science, which I like both of.

Thirdly, an animator? I looove drawing, but it's kind of tough to find work as one.

I've thought about this question a lot lately since I'm at the point where I have to really consider it.

My dream job would be dancing for Ballet Magnificat! as even just a supporting dancer. To really shoot high I'd like to be part of one of their touring groups, Alepha and Omega, and travel the world performing in different countries, spreadng the message of the Bible and connecting with people. Many of whom having that be their first, meaningful encounter with God.

My other jobs I dunno are really possible but I'd like to be a photographer, a blogger/travel blogger, an author, and/or working in ministry. I'd also love to open a bookstore someday but that's another one of those things that depends. Maybe in future years when I have more experience I can consider it.

I'd like to be an artist / animator but I doubt I ever will be. My apathy holds me back from just about everything.

I understand that sentiment, but it's important to know that you can overcome such apathy. :)

Okay...here's my response:

1) Really Dream Jobs/as In-Another-Life Jobs/as in I-have-no-real-talent-in-this-area Jobs (lol)

--singer/songwriter/musician (guitar and/or piano)  OR
--fiction writer

NOTE: I would probably be poor, but I would make it work. My parents would probably worry, but I would call them periodically and send them pictures of me eating a big meal every now and then.

2) Realistic Dream Job

College professor of English Lit.

NOTE: Right now the plan is to go for a double major in English Lit./Philosphy or English Lit./History and go to grad school after college. I've heard that jobs are competitive though so I may still be poor. My parents may still worry, and I may still have to send them pictures of me eating a big meal every now and then.

I have no idea. I've considered being an Engineer or an Architect, since I like math and design. I'm waiting till I have a clearer idea what things will be like in the future.

DAISY!!! Oh wow--You get to--(deep breaths, Mice, deep breaths)--AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You get to help out a wildlife sanctuary??? YOU ARE SO LUCKY! (Sorry, I'm being uncharacteristically loud. I'm so happy for you, though!!!)

I really really really want to be a wildlife rehabilitator, (check out my animal thread--I'm posting some of my rehabilitation stories there soon) but I'm thinking I'll actually be a vet, and rehabilitate in my free time. (It's a tie between the two right now--vet or rehabilitator? I guess I have some time to choose. :) )

But--there's not a single rehabilitation center within an hour of our house, so I can't even volunteer or help at one! D:

What kind of help do you get to do at the sanctuary? Is it for all animals, or just something like birds, or reptiles?

[Side note: I might be an author and artist in my free time, but I DEFINITELY know want to work with animals when I'm older.]
