HAIR HELP!!!!

HAIR HELP!!!!

I need help!!!!

So, I'll start off with this: My hair is straight, long, thin, limp, fine , blond and doesn't tease well. Just remember this.

Now what I need to say: So my dance teacher just told me I could wear natural hair to my competition in January, but I need something with volume. If you refer to the rant above, you will see that my hair doesn't tease at all. I have looked at many different styles. The one I'm thinking of is kind of like a milkmaIid braid but with pull out parts, if you know what I mean.

Suggestions on what in the world to do with my annoying hair?

Btw, once my hair scare is taken care of, everyone can post their own hair helps! I didn't know where to post this so I hope this is ok.

Kaleidoscope to the rescue!!!!!!!!

The first thing I would do would be to look up princess hairstyles online.

If nothing there works my best guess would be to curl your hair.  No really it works. Have your mom sis bro or dad gel your hair and put it in curlers.  Best to do it the night before, then DO NOT take them out till the very last second or it will not work.

Yes this will probobly mean you'll have to walk around in public with curlers in your hair and a sleepy expression but remember I DID it for 7 weeks!!!!! (It was a long performance) and if you can't bear the ambarassment wear a head scarf bandana or something.

Hope this helped!

My hair is kinda curly. Not a lot, kinda in between wavy and curly. I suggest going to bed with your hair wet. Nothing in it, just wet, after you shower. I know it sounds crazy, but it's very unlikely you'll get a cold (I even do this during the winter). I know it feels a bit uncomfortable laying on wet hair, but what I do is use my hands to flip my hair from underneath my head. It makes it sprawl out over the pillow kind of.

When you wake up you might have some nasty bed-head, but just take a wet hairbrush and run it through your hair.

(I suggest taking awhile when brushing your hair this way. If you just brush it to get the tangles out, it might look poofy and frizzy. My mom sometimes brushes my hair for several minutes, and it comes out smooth).

I also suggest rubbing a bit natural oil through your hair before you shower and letting it soak in for several minutes. This will reduce frizziness and make it look shiny. But you have to do this before you shower, or your hair will look really greasy.

Use an all natural black castor oil shampoo. I use Shea Moisture. My hair is naturally thinner than most peoples, but I use this now, and it's a LOT thicker. I also use a shea butter conditioner, also by Shea Moisture.

Let's see. There was a girl in my class who has THE THINNEST HAIR YOU'VE EVER SEEN, so thin that it just stopped growing after her shoulders. She curled it, and that gave it more volume. Another thing I recommend is braiding it in dutch or french braids, then tugging on the sides to make it look thicker. Other than that, I can't really help you because my hair is the exact opposite- pixie cut short and disastorously thick, soooo... Good luck, I guess!

Milkmaid braids sound fine, but maybe you could also try a crown braid? They may be harder to do. . . but they're just like milkmaid braids, except more durable (as in they hold longer) You could also curl your hair, like Windswift. . . oops, I meant Kaleidescope said. Also, one more option: you could do a bunch of braids, and then make a bunch of little buns with the braids while your hair is wet, then when your hair dries, brush it out, and it'll be really poofy (lots of volume?), but I don't know if it'll work for your hair type. It works on me, but I have really thick hair. . .

Cut it short like me! Maybe not. I used to have disastorously poofy hair, but it's actually straightened a bit since I cut it. Gel can help with frizz. Also, braided hairstyles are great for thick and frizzy hair. I recommend doing two dutch braids, they are really cute but kind of hard to do.

Braid it, especially when it's wet! My only tip to keep it from proofing/frizzy is STAY AWAY FROM HEAT AND HUMIDITY.

I know that might be hard, impossible even.

Washing your hair with cold water instead of hot water can help, too. Hot water makes hair frizzy.

Hm... It isn't good for your hair, but once in a while can't hurt to put mousse in your hair. There is also this hair powder that smooths your hair...

Next time you get a hair cut I'd suggest you ask the hairdresser for tips and products. My hairdresser has been a lifesaver, she showed me a whole new world in hair beauty tips and now I braid my hair down the side of my head every day! That's the only way I can keep ALL my rather short hair up, becuase I have a layered hairstyle. It just touches my shoulders so I'm pretty proud to be able to braid it.

Anyway, good luck and tell me how it turns out!

Cut your hair shortish and spike it up?

Maybe not...

Lol, haha, great idea.

*shrugs* I don't have a better idea. My hair is (not to brag) not thin, not too thick. Just thick enough to hold hairstyles, not thick enough to be hard to brush.

Ug, my hair is really hard.

It's a bit wavy and really thick, and it's like a cross between red and brown. (Sort of auburn?)

Anyways, it just gets SO DRY at the ends, and I would love some moisturizing advice. I have this really deep conditioner that I use when I shower, and I have leave in conditioner, but if you guys have any other advice or good conditioning products that you use, that would be great. Thanks!

Coconut oil. It works SO WELL. There are tons of tutorials online that you can use.

Let me know how it works out! :)

LEAVE IN YOUR CONDITIONER NO MATTER WHAT!!!!

I used to have REALLY dry ends, but I started using botanical shampoo and conditioner (Shea moisture again), and now my hair looks really nice. I use the black castor oil shampoo to help with my oily scalp problem, and the coconut conditioner works well in humid weather too.

Hope this helps!! :)

So... How can I put it for me? I have almost the same situation as Inktail, with long, thin, straggly, flat, brown hair. It is very staticy, sticking up at the top in little strands, with broken ends. My hair is really long, falling over half way down my back, and I don't want to cut it short. Is there any way to get rid of the static, split ends that I have? Thanks!
