Has anybody gone, or is going, to a summer camp? This year I'm
going to one in July. They do neat stuff like canoeing, kayaking,
swimming, drama, dance, windsurfing, sailing, and something they call
"Hebertism", though I have absolutely no idea what that means and my
computer doesn't register it. It's an all-girl's camp, and key factor
is learning French. I'm really excited! Except I'll be in Dekopi, the
group for 8-11-year-olds. Ugh. I wish I was 12, so I could be in
Chipka, the group for 12-13-year-olds. *mumblegrumble* But I think
I'll have a good time. There's also a summer camp in England called
Camp Beaumont, AND IT LOOKS SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Except my
mom won't let me go there this year because of the swine flu. Oh well.
One year isn't SO long. They have every single imaginable activity
available for you to do, and, um, five different camps: The Island,
which is for water/beach sports mostly, Colomendy Valley, which is an
extreme adventure camp, Dukehouse Woods, which is an exclusively
outdoor camp, Beaumont High, for younger kids, and The House, for all
those 15-17-year-olds that think they're cooler than everybody else, so
they party all night. :)

I'm going to a summer camp! Last year, they had this whole Roman theme and there was a dude that dressed up as a person with something that made him have a pig head!! They called him Snouticus and everyone loved him, but in the end, the evil dude made him into sausage!! But in the very end, he put wings on and they flashed strobe lights while he danced and played the piano! He was supposed to be an angel!! It was awesome!! This year there is a "behind the scenes of the Iron Horse" theme!!

I'm going to a French immersion camp this summer. It's going to be the first time I've ever been to a camp any longer than two days and a night, but I think I'll have fun! Once you get there, you sign an oath stating that you won't speak anything but French the entire time, unless there's an emergency. (I was told a story about a college student doing an Italian immersion camp, and that he got a parking ticket that he wanted to contest. He asked if he could speak in English, but they said no! At court, he had to hire a translator!)

Cool! A bit like mine! Except you can speak English on English Days. On French Days you can speak only French. :) I'm too chicken to do an all-French camp. :)

The only time I was going to go to summer camp was a couple years ago -- I was in the ER really sick on the day we were supposed to go, which was the 4th of July. Then when my dad tried to drive me up a couple of days later, I threw up in the car. Not a happy day in the H. household, that.

I'm going to sleep away camp for the first time ever this summer! It's one of those all around camps, where you choose your activities. I'M SO SUPER EXITED!!!! I'm also going to a day camp for a week. It's a writing camp, and I did it last year. It was a lot of fun and taught me new things, especially not to be self concious about sharing my writing (although I still don't like to post a lot online for copywright reasons...not that I don't trust you guys!)

I'm going to this AMAZING Christian camp this summer that's with my old church. It's SOOO great!! :D:D (of course, "Keira" and "Elizabeth" will be there.... plus all of my other "friends".... ugh...)

P.S. I am not going to summer camp. I never normally do. Just soccer camps that last about a week. My cousins are visiting for a month in the summer, so I will be busy with that!!!
