CB NAMES!

So I was wondering, where did your names come from? Some people do what you're told to do, and do your first name and last initial but a lot of people don't. My name comes from the book Impunity Jane by Rumer Godden. It's about a pocket doll. It's also abou 99% of my childhood.  That's why I picked it.

Genn says font. That's a real word! Her only other word was pony.

I have, too. Have you ever heard Tom Lehrer's song about it? There was a challenge to memorize it in about 5th grade, and I did! So now I forever know it.

"Theeeeere's... antimony, arsenic, aluminum, selenium, and hydrogen, and oxygen, and nitrium, and rhenium, and nickel, neodinium, neptuanian, germanium, and iron, americium, ruthenium, uranium..."

That's just the beginning! ;)

"Europium, zirconium, lutetium, vanadium, and lanthanum and osmium and astatine and radium, and gold and protactinium and indium and gallium... and iodine and thorium and thulium and thallium..."

I love Tom Lehrer! I can only ever remember the short version of The Elements, though... "There's earth, and air, and fire, and water!"

I chose the name Joan B. of Arc because I am OBSESSED with Joan of Arc, (she's my favorite heroine, and one day I hope to become as great as she was.)

The "B." in my CB name stands for "Black," (NOT my last name, but the last name of the first character I ever made on the CB; Joan Black.)

I love Joan of Arc! I always wondered what the "B" was in your name, such a wonderful way to incorporate it in.

3 reasons, definitely not as cool as your guy's: (I actually found meaning after I chose the name, at first I just liked the color imagery and how it sounded) so, 1. I really, really love the color blue. 2. There's a Fall Out Boy song that mentions bluebirds a couple times and 3. Bluebirds are symbols of happiness, and it's like my lifetime goal to become an optimist. (I don't know, is that something you can become? Or are you born with it?) Oh well. Your stories are really interesting!

Also, the funny thing is that after joining the CB, I get the same feeling when I see the word Bluebird somewhere as when you see your name in a math problem. It's cool, you know? I also see things like drawings of bluebirds and little bird earrings and are drawn to them because this is sort of like my second name. I don't know, it seems like a piece of my personality now.

That's awesome, Bluebird! Both the name itself and how you are drawn to bluebird-things. As for me, I rarely find someone or something with my name's spelling so that experience is rare. But every time I see wolf-related things, it reminds me of me and one of my friends because we both really love wolves.

When I first joined I called myself Lyra, after The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman, because I really love that series! Then Scylla told me I couldn't be Lyra because there already was someone named Lyra. So I tried to come up with a new name, failed, and started doing my homework. Then, out of the blue, the name 'Cockleburr' popped into my head and I just knew that was my name. And that's what it's been ever since!

You were named Lyra before, too? That's cool! I wonder if the other Lyra named herself that for the same reason. I love the name Cocklebur, it fits you perfectly!

Thank you, Ashlee! Wait, were you also called Lyra? Actually, the other Lyra's real name is actually Lyra. She goes by Elvina now, I believe.

Well, in case you couldn't already tell, I'm a HUGE fan of the 1991 movie Newsies, based on the Newsies Strike of 1899. I'm so obsessed that the Newsies Strike of 1899 is my National History Day topic. And, in the movie, I was so entranced by how tough and brave the Brooklyn newsies were, especially Spot (even though my Newsies movie cruch is Racetrack Higgins), and basically love the idea of yelling, "NEVER FEAR, BROOKLYN'S HERE!!!" everytime I walk into a room. Hmmmm... maybe I should try that every time I post on the CB... it'd get super annoying, though.
