SPIDERS!

Help! I'm terrified of spiders! And it's spider season in Maine, when all the spiders come out and invade houses and stuff!

So, last night I was in the bathroom, getting ready to brush my teeth, when I thought I saw something move in the mirror in front of me.

I looked up, and there was a giant daddy-longlegs right in front of my face! (Yes, I know, they technically aren't spiders. But still!) I leapt back at least two feet and kind of whimpered.

I ran downstairs to get my dad to catch it, (I refuse to catch my own spiders) but he said he wouldn't, and my mom agreed with him. So I had to go back upstairs, where the spider was now in the sink. I thought about washing it down the sink, but then it pulled itself back up onto the mirror, and started running up and down it.

I was just trying to brush my teeth and wash my face!

I basically dragged my little brother from his Muse magazine so he could come and give me moral support.

My dad ended up putting it in the bathtub and leaving it there--(it's still there! AHHHH!!!) and after a lot of shivering, I finally made myself brush my teeth and wash my face, and then I practically sprinted back to my bedroom, where I proceeded to check all the ceiling, floor, and bits of furniture that I could see to make sure there weren't spiders. And I was still creeped out by the time I got to bed.

Help me!

I totally feel you Leafpool. Spiders (all bugs really) freak me out like there's no tomorrow. My advice is to just leave a can of bug spray by your bed. It helps me, and it might help you too.

I feel you BIG TIME, Leafpool! I have arachnophobia, and I literally cannot handle looking at pictures of spiders. I can't catch them, and once I saw a spider on the floor of our school hallway, and had to stifle a scream. I don't have any advice except dont be ashamed to scream. It's a human reaction, and will get you help much quicker.

I know of a few ways to keep the spiders out of your house, or at least your room!

Most stores sell glue mouse traps that also work for bugs--they're baited with pheromones that attract pests, who get stuck on the glue. If you put them in dark places on the floor, the spiders will find their own way to the traps.

Hey, I'm with you too, Leafpool! I literally am terrified of spiders, and so is one of my friends. My solution is this: Lysol. Spray them all, and a tiny bit will work and boom, they'll be dead. That's if you are like me and don't want to get close enough to smash them with something. Ugh.

I mean, once when I was like 8 or 9 (maybe a little younger), I went to go take a shower and I looked in the curtain before getting ready. And I saw what I thought was a giant, giant spider. I mean, I was really young so my mind exaggerated a bit. A lot. Anyways, I thought it was huge and ran to go get my mom, who then in turn, went to go get my dad. He went into the bathroom and came out a second later. I asked my mom where the spider was, and she said it was tiny and they washed it down the drain.

My mind can be way overly dramatic at times! xD

I actually am pretty fine with spiders, BUT I CANNOT HANDLE AN ANT. I have Myrmecophobia and cannot handle even looking at any ant. Which really sucks, cause you know they're everywhere...

ANywho, here's a tip of getting rid of any bug/animal that has invaded your house.

You knnow those essentail oils? Well get the lemon and peperment one, mix them into a sprey bottle, and spray the bottoms of you walls, door, and windows/any other place they might come from i.e. the sink drain), and there ya go, your bug problum is solved! But just dont actually wear it...that stuff is really strong.

AUGH!!! NOOOOOO!!! NOT SPIDERS!!! I HATE THEM SOOOOOO MUCH!!! I'm afraid I cant help you at all, I have the exact same problem. Where I live there are a LOT of cocroaches. Every once in a while a really big one shows up in the house and I totally freak out. Same for bees, and spiders, and wasps, and mayflies. Bugs just really creep me out.

You guys too? I HATE, HATE, HATE daddy-longlegs. (Daddy-longlegses?) I'm better with small spiders. Recently, there was a SPIDER ON ME! I freaked out. I couldn't move around wildly to get it off though. Why? Because I was in a moving car!

About a year ago, there was a spider in the shower.A long, spidery-creepy spider. I won't harm a spider. Nope. Dunno why. My family only has one bathroom. (It's got a bathtub/shower, so I couldn't take baths instead, in a separate bathtub. But never mind all that.) Said spider stayed in the stupid shower for a month. Worst month of my life.

Moral: It'll leave/die eventually. You can do this!

I don't really mind spiders. The small ones can be kind of cute. The only thing I really have an issue with are those huge fuzzy wasps, or the kind with the really bright stripes. I get nervous around bees too, but they're better than wasps.

I'm afraid I can't help you. One of my favourite things to do is grab a spider and show it too one of my brothers who are all scared of them, I guess I have a twisted sense of humour;)!
