an AE is an alter ego. There are some rules to them, but I don't know what they are. Anyway: AEs usually talk in italics, bold, or both. They usually have different personalities than their CBer and go on all sorts of adventures.

CAPTCHAs are that little box at the bottom of when you're making a post that has four letters in it. Those letters are all twisted and in different colors. It's for making sure you're not a robot. But some people name their CAPTCHAs and tell the other CBers what they said. For example, My CAPTCHA's name is Starfire Scales, and she says "aagd". There are threads for both AEs and CAPTCHAs to chat on-- though the CAPTCHA's are a little harder to understand! They can only speak in four letters at a time.

Just a note: Sometimes the Admins will post stuff too. The Admins (Admin?) are the people (person?) who review our posts for content. They also speak in italics, but they'll always sign it "Admins". Anything else I forgot you do Admins?
