Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Title help needed!

My friend has been working on a novel for several years now, and is finally near finished. Thing is, we can't think of a title!

The book is a family story. Basically, there is a pair of twin girls with two younger sisters. A family with two boys moves into the apartment attached to their house, and they're having Penderwick-style summer fun.

Until one of the twins, Savannah, is paralyzed in a diving accident. She can't move anything from her neck down. The book is about her learning to deal with her injury, and the other kids to become better siblings. There are many other character threads, but the one with Savannah is the main one. Her twin's name is Delaney, by the way.

Any ideas for a title? Thanks in advance!

Wow, your story sounds brilliant, and that is a lot of time! I am not really good with names off the top of my head, especially without reading the book. Plus I don't know what a "Penderwick-style summer" is, although I believe I have heard the phrase.

If the focus is on her being paralyzed, maybe something like "Neck Down", which is a realistic name yet keeps the reader in suspense until the big event.

Or for more creative names, maybe something like Filched of Flight, because with movability like she had earlier in the summer, she could fly, metaphorically. Free to do her choosing, free to live her ways. When her flight is filched, Savannah feels like a caged bird and must learn to somehow still spread her wings and glide.

I wish you the best of luck! Maybe you can share with us the story when completed? I'd love to read it!

What about 'Frozen Savannah'? I just think that title sounds a bit suspenseful. If suspense isn't what you want, I really like Ashlee's suggestion.

Hmm, what about...eh.... "No Longer Free" ? No, that sounds lame. What about... uuuuh... "The Summer of Change" ??? Okay, these are both lame. I like Ashlee's and Embers. I'll keep thinking though!

I like Ashlee's suggestion of Neck Down because people will have to figure it out instead of just knowing what it means right away.

I would think that something like "Paralyzed Summer" or "Neck Down" would be nice.

Oh my gosh I just looked at the other comments and I honestly didn't see Ashlee's comment! I swear! (Good choice though, Ashlee.)

Wow, great minds think alike! I saw your comment and I thought for a moment, "She probably saw mine and agreed with it or something". Great suggestion!
