Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I just found

I just found out that my Nana's friend Carmenlinda died.

She was so nice, we used to visit her at Hospice, and we would bring chocolate. It was so sad, and she wasn't very happy there.

I don't know what else to say........

A girl in my grade died a couple years ago, but I didn't really know her, and it was just shocking.

....

We're very sorry, Pepper Star. It is sad when someone dies. But death is a part of life. I hope Carmenlinda had a good, long life. And now she's no longer sick or in pain.

Oh wow, I am so sorry, Pepper. As much as I hate it, everyone has their time, and I promise you, everything happens for a reason. I bet Carmenlinda (beautiful name, might I add), was a brilliant woman with a very well achieved, happy life. Just remember, no matter what you believe in, she is happy now, at peace, and no longer suffering. Be strong, Pepper!

As for losing someone in your grade, that must have been really upsetting. If I lost anyone in my entire school (or old school now that I am homeschooled) I don't know what I'd do. I am so close to most of them, and I talk to every single one, K-12th on a daily basis. D:

I am sorry for your loss, but I know you will get through it. We are here with you if you ever need support again.

Thank you so much. I feel a lot better now.

A Life Notice:

Carmenlita (She was called Carmenlinda when she moved to America) was born in Italy. When her father died, her mother ran an antique shop to support her family. During WW2, Carmenlita would wait hours to get bread and water for her family, and she was proud to. Often sirens would go off, and everyone would have to sleep in the subway until the all clear sirens came. Once she decided to slide down the railing, and several other people followed her.

She met her husband, Perino, on a dare. Her friends dared her to go up to a solider and ask if he had any candy. He said no, and politely told her that she shouldn't ask soliders for candy. He met her family again somehow, and began coming over for dinner. He and Carmenlita fell in love. Unfortuanately, he had to go back to the US. When she was 16 or older, she went over to the US to marry him. (She accidentally got on the the wrong ship, but everything was okay after that.)

Facts:

-She learned English from reading the newspaper

-She was a magnificent cook

-She was a hard worker

What a wonderful story, Pepper Star. Thank you for sharing it with us. What a magnificent lady. Having been a girl in Italy during WW II, I'm sure she grew up to love life and appreciate each day. How fortunate it was that you knew her.

The oddest feeling, I swear I read exactly this before. The exact same woman from Italy dying, with the exact same life story. Ehm... Forget that, it happens a lot.

The story though, quite beautiful! She seemed like a wonderful lady, and sure strong to be in WWII. I can only image how that felt. I know she valued every single day and made it her best. Thank you for sharing!

Oh Pepper Star! I'm so sorry! I know what it is like to have someone you love die. I'm really, really sorry that you had to have someone close to you die. Every one has to die, as hard as it is to understand.
I agree with Admin, and I hope that Carmenlinda had a lovely long happy life. Love you Pepper Star *hugs* If there is anything I can do, please tell me. I'm so sorry.

As empty as this might sound, I really am sorry.

You must be so sad! I can't imagine losing someone like that, someone you knew and cared for.

Her story is so interesting. Candy from a soldier! It reminds me of a story my mom told me: My grandfather grew up during WW2. The Japanese soldiers thought it was okay to give candy to the young Chinese children, because the real enemies were the adults. They wouldn't even poison the candy or anything!

That aside, I hope you know that you have a lot of love and support fron the CB, and you can always ckme here to vent, cry, or rant.

I am so sorry, Pepper Star. Loss is really hard, and none of us should have to deal with it. That being said, Carmenlinda sounds like she had a really interesting and good long life. Praying for you. <3
