Alice opened the scratched, wooden back door of her house and ran inside. Nothing seemed different about the kitchen, it had the same peeling green paint, white cabinets, and tile floor as always, but sitting on the counter was a crisp, oversized white envelope. She checked the name on the front- Alice *******. The return address read Cricket Media.
Alice excitedly ripped the starched white paper to reveal an official looking certificate. Congratulations, it read. You have received first place in the 10-and-under division of the April 2017 writing contest.
Alice rubbed her eyes to make sure she wasn't dreaming. The creamy colored certificate was still there. First prize? In a Cricket writing contest? ME?!?!? She had forgotten all about that writing piece that she had written and sent away to Illinois, then promptly stopped worrying about. Now here she was, three months later. First place! Publication for the first time! It was a dream come true!
Squealing, Alice hurried upstairs to tell the rest of her family.

So...yeah! As you may have guessed, Alice is me! Today I received word that I had won the April contest! And I NEVER, I repeat NEVER, would have been able to do it without you. You guys have improved my writing skills so much, and I love each and every one of you dearly. Thank you so much for helping me in these past few months! I know this thread should probably be in This Month, but nobody ever checks there and I wanted you to know how grateful I am to the CB in general.
Congratulations, Alice! It's a great story! It will be in the magazine and on the website in September.

Congrats! You have a pretty IRL name. :) Would you be able to put your award-winning writing here on the CB? I've been having some subscription problems so there's a chance I might not see it in the issue your writing comes in.

Congrats, Elementgirl! I love getting those envelopes, but I've never gotten first place in anything, only third place and honorable mention in two art contests. But enough about me. It's so great that you got published! And you're very welcome!
