Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Hey, nerds!I

Hey, nerds!

I'm not an adult yet, so I can't be kicked off the CB (but soon, shh, don't tell the Admins) and I wanted to see how you guys are doing. I recognize a good number of you and some I don't, but I'd like to meet you.

For people who don't know who I am, I'm an ordinary person, I guess. I used to come on the CB from 2011 until today. I live at home still because of a disability but I am going to a local college in the fall. I am fluent in English and Japanese now and do translation work, although I don't get paid for it. I tutor and do get paid for it (yikes, I have a job. That's spooky).

Fun fact! I stopped growing at age 12 due to health issues and am forever stuck at a 12-year-old's height. Medical science has allowed me through a pretty normal puberty, though, so even though it's very late, my voice has started getting deeper. Is this happening to any of the guys here yet?

Hope you're all doing well. Please tell me what you've been up to.

Hi, Ruby! It's good to hear from you. FYI, we don't kick people off due to age.

Ruby! I remember you. Welcome back!

Lots of people have joined, we've had several wars, etc. Someone else can fill you in on the details; I'm short on time.

Thanks, Leafpool! I remember you as well. Making avatars for everyone helped me put names to faces a lot easier. What have you been up to?

Hey, Silver! I knew another CBer who used the nickname SilverWing too. Time flies and we get old too fast, you know? Thanks for the warm welcome! Can you tell me about yourself? What do you like doing?

Welcome back Ruby! We've missed you! The CB has experienced some confilct, but at heart we're the same as when you last left. I hope you stick around for a bit. Again, welcome back!

Hi, Mirax, it's great to see you again! I'm glad you're still here. I'll try to stick around for a little bit this time before life becomes too crazy again.

Hi Ruby! You wouldn't know me since I joined about nine months ago. Nice to meet you.

We've had some pretty rough times on the CB, but the things that have happened are The Hamilton Conflict, The Diversity War and a small impersonator issue. The link below should explain all of this.

@Admins, please link this!

Wait.

The Hamilton Conflict? What was that?

Uhh... Basically, people began talking about Hamilton and all, you know? And some people weren't comfortable with it for they felt the lyrics were inappropriate, especially in the first song. Then the other people got offended and there was a massive fight - primarily about the first few lines of Alexander Hamilton - on whether or not it was considered inappropriate or cuss words.

I think in the end they just decided to just agree with one another and drop the issue.

Nice to meet you, Pepper Star! Thanks for linking the thread. I remember when that thread was first created, oh man.

Sounds like business has been as usual here on the CB. We have fights but we still remain like a family besides all that.

Tell me about yourself. What are your hobbies? Do you have any pets? I have two big fat cats, here is one of them being stupid.

Oh my goodness, Ruby, I was afraid I'd never hear from you again! Do you remember me? I joined back in 2010, so I remember you clear as day. Seriously, we have nothing wrong with age. I believe our oldest CBer is... 19? Yes. 19.

I am so sorry to hear about your disability! You are a fantastic person, so stay strong and live brightly, my friend. I think I have heard of your disability, but here is how I see it - it is not a disability but an honor. It shows you are fearless and strong and willing to face anything life throws at you. Many people I know would mope around and say their lives are ruined. If I know you, I know for a fact that the great Ruby would never do that.

So... Life. Life's been going on, for sure! As for me personally, I finally got published in Canvas Literary Journal and I am running a quite successful blog about creative works such as writing, art, and photography. I am determined on becoming an author some day, you know? With photography and possibly herbal remedies. So basically, being my own boss because if my parents did it, I will too.

As for the CB, all is fabulous! We've had a few - quite a few - disputes and wars since you left, but in general all tends to go smooth. Things have changed a ton since 2011, that is for sure. But I think it is a good thing.

Anyways, welcome back, Ruby! I seriously almost cried seeing your name, it brings back great memories. Also, congrats about college! I am almost there myself...

Yes, I remember you well, Ashlee! You weren't always a frequent poster, but I've seen you around the years many times! BHR is the 19 year old floating around here, right? I spoke with her yesterday elsewhere and it was wonderful to see old friends again in that way.

I don't know how great I am, but thank you for the kind words. I'm trying to live as normal a life as I can, yes, while also working on advocate projects. Speaking of being published, I was published on a British news site with a little article about living with my disability. It was a lot of fun to write for them.

Congrats on being published yourself! I'm going to look for you in book stores in a few years and read all your novels. I'll look for your blog, too, that sounds fascinating!

Things have changed, but things change for the better. I think people get nostalgic for their younger years, and while I wish I could meet some old friends again, I don't want to go back to those times. The combination of being a teenager and being psychotic left me with some very, very poor judgment and whoo! I'm horribly embarassed by all the stuff I did.

It's wonderful to see a familiar name as well. What grade are you going into now? Are you a junior or a senior? Best of luck- those years are hard, but you're almost done with high school.

Yeah, I wasn't the most frequent of posters! I was most active in 2012 when Joe and the others were here. Then the past two/three years I've also been really active. Otherwise, just watching from a distance or a fair sum of posts. Yeah, BHR and a newer CBer, Oregano, are the oldest here. I truly do enjoy seeing old friends as well! Oh, I'd love to get into contact with TNO and Joe... it's been ages.

Congratulations to you on being published! As well for all your work, too. I am technically "working" as well, with a contract summer yardwork job and small yardwork/babysitting in between. But where I live there aren't any jobs whatsoever, so that is the only choice I have. But as for you, yeah, sounds like fun!

Haha, thank you, Ruby! I am quite excited about that someday. Who knows? I might combine my photography and writing skills together for some non-fiction travel works as well! Yeah, I'd give you the title to my blog, but I can't do that here. Now if I had a different way to contact you... are you on NaNo?

Yeah, I think we all get nostalgic. I miss a lot of my younger years, but then again, I don't think I'd trade it for the world. Although for me, my younger teen years are basically the same as they are now. If not worse. So, glad I'm not living in the past, I think we all would like to avoid that.

I am going into junior year as a homeschooler, which just sounds insane! I mean, I remember the first time I really learned how to read when I was 10. Then excelling like crazy when I was 12, and already planning for college. It all seemed like yesterday! Quite odd how time just catches up to you like that, isn't it? Thanks! I am determined to beat down all the labels that have been thrown at me, so I know I will do good. Best of luck to you as well, and nice seeing you again!

I remember Joe very well. I wish that he would talk to me some more, he was a cool guy. However, we don't speak much. Speaking of that, I should check in with Melody. I haven't talked to her in aaaages. Do you remember her and Blu? I think TNO is still on tumblr, if we want to talk to her. I can try to get into contact with her via Violet.

Good luck with the summer job! What are you going to use the money for? I've been buying things left and right and feeling like a horrible spendthrift, haha.

I'm not on NaNo, which is a shame. I just don't have the time for it. I do contact some CBers outside of here, so I'll ask them for the link to it.

You'll do really well in school, I'm sure. Do you know what you want to study in college yet?
