Chatterbox: Down to Earth

AAAAHHHH! School is

AAAAHHHH! School is drawing ever closer! I have maybe three more weeks left of summer! *runs around screaming*

So, I remember everybody getting out of school at different times, which means school will start for us at different times. When does the school year start/end for all of you? And *takes deep breath*

-What time does school start every day?

-What time does school end?

-How many class periods do you have every day?

-How long are they (the class periods)?

-What grade are you guys going into?

For me, school starts at 7:45 a.m. (ET) and ends at 2:35 p.m. every day. I have nine class periods (counting lunch/advisory) that all last 42 loooooooonnng, boooorriinnngg minutes. I have three minutes to get from class to class. Lunch is split in half, one half being lunch, and one half being advisory; basically a mini study hall.

I'm going into the dreaded 8th grade (actually, I'm dreading eveything from 8th grade to 12th), and I recently found out that unless my schedule changes, I got into Biology! Which is in the High School... (The Middle School and High School are connected.)

School started two days ago for me, the 10th. Honestly, I hate it right now. I only have four friends and in the majority of my classes I have none because most of my friends went to different high schools. Being an introvert, it's really awkward for me to talk to new people!

For me, school starts at 7:20, but I walk over there at 6:45. School ends at 2:20. On Wednesdays, school ends an hour early and we have all 7 classes, and on all other days we have four classes. On Wednesdays,  each class is 45ish minutes and on all other days about an hour and 30 mins. I'm a freshmen now, which means I am going into 9th grade.

Ugh, my classes are so hard, all of my teachers but one lectured on the first day about how much work their class was going to be. AP is obviously really difficult, but I've got other classes that aren't even AP that only give As if you get everything right and do something else to impress her.

-Seriously though, I need advice to get over my shyness and meet new friends, because everyone seems to already know each other!

Hey, GreenMango.

The schools in my town get out early on Wednesdays too. I wonder if we live in the same state!

School starts the day after Labor Day for me— so about three more weeks for me as well! School starts at 8:00 a.m. (PST) for me (but sometimes they ring the bell at 7:45 and I get marked late! So unfair!) Classes end at 2:40, but I have orchestra and debate on 3 out of 5 days, so I end up staying after school for another two hours. On Fridays, though, we get out ten minutes early because our school is super close to Starbucks and some ice cream and boba places, so everyone goes there after school. I have 8 class periods, counting advisory (and Pepper Star, when I read that, I was like, hey, do we go to the same school?) Classes all last 55 minutes, breaks are 10 minutes, and lunch is 30 minutes. We don't have a passing period between first and second period and fourth and fifth period, which sucks, honestly, because there's no time to go back to lockers and such for stuff. I'm going into eighth grade too, and I recently got my schedule too! (And was super psyched because I got into Drawing and Painting with the AP Art teacher in the high school!) My school has this super weird rotating schedule though— it's a Day 1-Day 6 thing with periods that are A-G + Study Hall and Advisory and it changes every day. It's really confusing, but it's actually a lot more fun than having the same classes at the same time every day! So yeah! I'm actually pretty excited for school to start (mostly just because I want to go back to debate!)

My school has a rotating schedule, too! It makes perfect sense to me but when I try to explain it to other people they have such a hard time with the concept. I guess I'm just used to it.

*squints suspiciously* Hmm.... from your descriptions, your school REALLY, REALLY, REALLY reminds me of my school's "sister school". (That was an excessive use of the word "school", but I have no idea what how else to phrase it. Basically, they're founded by the same guy.)

You're in Southern California, right?

Wait a minute. . . hmm. . . I think my school has a "sister school", but not totally sure. . . and, yeah, I'm in Southern California. . . and your school has a debate team too, right? Do you have a NaNo account? It might be easier to figure this out off the CB :)

(Maybe we've secretly met each other but don't know it! Or maybe we'll meet at a debate tournament in the very near future. . . by the way, what type of debate does your school do?)

I do have a NaNo account! (YWP, of course.) I'm Symphonic. I'll message you there.

School starts September 7th for me. I had to actually go to the website and look up the calendar to find out. XD

The day technically starts at 8:30 or 8:45, but most of us arrive later than that. Classes start at nine, and let out at 1:40, but then we have chores and Judicial Court or School Meeting if it's Tuesday, and that all ends at three. There's five periods a day, each 48 minutes long, disregarding snack (which some people treat as lunch, but others eat after 1:40), which is 30 minutes. I'm going into--and this makes me feel old--tenth grade. *gasps of shock*

I'm a little nervous, but I'll survive. My school isn't bad. It's going to be a little rough getting back into the way of things, maybe, but I've done it before, so I think I can deal. There are even things I'm looking forward to. Like the art classes. I am so ready for art classes.

Mine started on the 10th of August, and every day school begins at 7:05. However, although it's early, I also get out early, at 1:30. I have 7 class periods every day and they're each about 45 minutes. I am a freshman in high school. ^^ And we usually have about 6 minutes to get from class to class.

Oh yeah? Three weeks, huh? Well, guess what I've got. ONE DAY. XD I'm actually really looking forward to it. I want to see all my friends again because I didn't get to see anyone during the summer. Cardinal says "meot". She is pretending to be a cat.

School starts every year on the day after Labor Day for me, so this year the first day is September 5th. I think my school day starts at 7:35 or 7:25 and gets out at 2:02. (My school is very precise with start/end times.) I have 7 periods on Monday and 6 longer ones every other day. I don't know how long they are because I don't have my scedule yet. I think they're something like 54 mins long Tuesday-Friday and a little shorter on Monday. I'm going into 8th grade and the middle school was just rebuilt so I'll be in a brand new school!

My school doesn't start until September 7th, so about... yeah, about three weeks or so. All the public schools in my area start next Tuesday.

School for me goes from 8:15 am — 3:00 pm, except on grading days when we get out at 12:05. There are 7 periods, with a five-minute passing period between each one. The schedule is something like this:

8:15 am - 9:05 am - First and second periods (academic classes)

10:00 - 10:15 am - Snack break

10:20 am - 12:00 pm - Arts classes, PE, or Life Skills

12:05 pm - Lunch

12:50 pm - 2:15 pm - Fifth and sixth periods (academic classes)

2:20 pm: Electives

3:00 pm: School ends

The first two periods are each 50 minutes. The next two are 45 minutes, the two after that are 42, and the last one is 40 minutes. We have a rotating schedule so it all evens out, except that electives are consistently 7th period.

We don't get our schedules until Orientation, which is the day after Labor Day, so I still have a while to wait. The suspense!! T^T

I'm going into eighth grade, and I'm pretty excited. We get one free period a week, and GET TO PICK OUR ARTS CLASSES!!! That means Improv and Acting Technique! That means Advanced Drawing and Painting! That means no more suffering through excruciatingly boring Music Listening classes! No more pushups and strange modern dances! (Don't get me wrong. I love to dance. Just... not that class.)

A snack break?! Man, I am so jealous of you. I have breakfast at 6:45, and at earliest, my lunch is going to be at 12:18. *pouts* I WANNA SNACK BREAK!
