Unexpected happiness to

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Unexpected happiness to

Unexpected happiness to hopefully make us believe that humanity has some shred of goodness left after all.

Besides that long and rather dark title, I don't think this needs much of an explanation. What is something small someone did that made you smile recently? It could be anything from a generous friend to a thoughtful teacher to an adorable toddler. Ready, set, go!

I had to borrow one of my biology teacher's textbooks for the class, and I opened up the box to discover a science-themed pillowcase she had made for me as well. It still makes me smile.

I accidentally got slapped in the face during a handball game and someone from the other team asked if I was okay.

The boy I used to have a crush on (Alex) walked with me from Latin class yesterday and we talked the whole time!! It was really nice. :) Also! Someone left really nice tags on a poem I posted online.

I love this thread! My sister just randomly brought me a milk dud, so I'll post that. It's sticking to my teeth as I type this!

Also, today on the bus ride home, everybody was singing like idiots to stupid country and rap songs that the boys were playing. Those boys are the ones who get in trouble all the time, never turn in assignments, etc... you know the type. I did not expect them to be belting out the high notes in See You Again. It made me laugh!

In my English class we were sharing the short stories that we had written, and no one wanted to go. In the past I had shared my stories, but I didn't want to share the one that I had written then. While everyone was trying to get each other to read theirs, this one kid (who's popular, never talks to me, and someone I don't usually associate with) told me to share mine because he said I was a good writer. It wasn't anything huge, but I got happy because I didn't think that anyone else thought my writing was good, and he was the last person in the world who I thought would say something like that.

My friend's dad (she is 8) told a story at dinner a little while ago about when my friend was in a race and she was running and she tripped someone (accidentally of course) and she stopped to help the girl up and asked if she was okay. It really made me smile. She also got 4 or 6 place in the race! (not sure which).

My mom told a story of an old family friend who she saw in the checkout line at a store a while ago, the woman in front of the friend didn't have enough cash to finish paying and the family friend finished paying for her. How sweet!

I saw an older man in the store today, he came in and smiled to me and told me what pretty hair I had, he then went on to tell every parent in the store what wonderful beautiful children they had. He was chatting with a cute little girl for a while and then told a mother of five that she had 'five little angles. God bless you, mother.'

It is so wonderful when you see acts of kindness in the world. It makes me feel so blessed that I am lucky enough to see the beauty of this place I live in.

Great thread Stella!

My CAPTCHA says 'harm'. Yes, lets keep this beautiful world away from harm, shall we? <3

There's this kid at school who is always mocking me. It's not just me though, he tries his very hardest to be annoying in class and be sarcastic and stuff all the time. He sits behind me in English class, and we were supposed to be working on our schoolwork, but I was working on my book, Take Wing, instead. (This was before I posted it on here and on NaNo). He asked what I was doing and I told him I was writing a book. He asked to read it, and after a long internal debate with myself, I shared the google doc with him so he could read it. I thought that would be the end of it, but then he made a few comments and critiques and really helped me out. We started talking more, and he asked me to help him with his English thing. I critiqued it, and he critiqued my English thing, and turns out he's actually a really good writer! This was a few weeks ago. Ever since, when we have to write something, we automatically share it with each other. We balance each other's writing styles out. I posted this on this thread because it's really hard to get a compliment from this person. Like I said, he's always being sarcastic and mocking people. But it's a huge compliment that he thinks my writing is good enough. Yesterday, he asked me to draft an email to the school administrators for him. I'm just really happy that he isn't quite as mean and mocking anymore, and that he thinks my work is good enough. Because seriously, this guy can be impossible to work with.

My older sister who's up at collage sent me this adorable birthday card a few days ago, and I just thought it's so cute that I'm going to share it.

Wow guys, you all have such wonderful experiences! I decided to post, so I guess I’d better share something. My Taiwanese Grandfather’s 80th birthday is coming up. This is a big deal, so my family is having my sister and I do 20 minutes of Mandarin 5 days a week. We usually end up flunking the pronounciation. That sets us into hysterical laughter. It’s great to have so much fun with a usually annoying sibling.

Sensfully yours,

Top! I love this thread!!

My five-year-old did my hair by twisting it up with the strings of my sweatshirt. She was so proud...

That last post posted while I was in the middle of typing somehow... Yeah I mostly type things out of order xD

So, after I had done a fishtail braid for her, my five-year-old hairstylist gave me a new "do" as she called it by twisting it up with my sweatshirt strings! She was so proud!

This is why I love babysitting.
