I just swept

Chatterbox: Down to Earth

I just swept

I just swept the stairs.  There was a couple stuffed animals, some stickers, dirt, and a few cups of dog hair.  It's fun to sweep the staris.

Sheesh!!!!

Here, we never kill bugs if we can help it, as long as they're not mosquitos, fleas, or ticks... and probably something else I'm forgetting. And even then, we feel bad about it!!! sometimes...

No, what we do with spiders, moths, caterpillars, pillbugs, ants, bees, whatever, is we take them outside by putting a clear glass over them, and gently sliding a stiff piece of paper under them, and taking the whole thing as far from our door as our not-at-all-big-yard will let us, and release them. :)

Well, actually, with ants, we feed them.

See, the reason ants come in, is generally because they need 1. food, 2. water, 3. shelter.

So, seeing as it's usually in winter, there isn't really a shortage of water, so my mom follows the line of ants to where they are coming in, and she puts a bowl of watered-down syrup. Next thing you know, they aren't crawling all over the kitchen!! They grab the food without having to cross the whole place, and go right back out. :)

Uh... I hope I don't sound like a goody-goody. I'm not!!! :)

Don't ask me to explain arachnophobia. I'm terrified of spiders. It's positively inexplicable- they're tiny little things that are very often harmless. Just like piercing my ears and painting my toenails (why? to this day I don't understand why I do these things), I don't understand why I'm afraid of spiders.

Thanks for explaining Mary W. I live where spiders are very common... they are constantly in my bathroom. But I haven't gotten used to them and I don't think I ever will!!! (Especially these HUGE ones we have... as big as a baseball!!!) I can't even kill them, unless I'm throwing something wildly at it. My brother has to come do it!

Wow, Maggie, you are very nice to spiders!! ;) My brother's once dropped one into a candle!! It was pretty funny. (Big sorry to all u spider lovers.) And yes, black widows are posionous (I can't spell either!!!) and they live BY ME. AHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :S

I didn't touch the black widow or anythong, I just didn't run around screaming or anything. Basically, I just walked away and I was fine. Poisonous spiders only bite if you provoke them, and most spiders aren't poisonous anyway. Most kinds of spiders where I live don't even bite period, as far as I know. I've never been bitten by one, anyway.

Hmm, I got bitten by a spider numerous times when I was a baby. Maybe that's where the arachnophobia stems from?

When i see a spider on me: I brush it off and hope it doesn't climb on me again. When I see a spider in my room or on my math: I don't do anything, or, if it's in my way, I blow it away. I have cobwebs in my room. It looks cool. I like to look a spiders. More then once there was a blck widow or a wolf spider in our garden and we looked at it. There's not one time in you life that you arn't ten inches away fronma spider. Except, maybe, when you are in a pool. There's a lot of spiders under the computer table. The computer, my room, and Autumns room are in the basment. Cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter (wood stove). And I don't even know why I said that. :D (*~*)

Wow Meadow, I couldn't do that!!  Weirdly and coincidently, there was just a spider the size of a quarter on my window.  Sorry spider lovers, I had my dad get it.  :(

:) <-- for me, though!!

I really don't ever harm bugs. I haven't since... what? Second grade? Well... we have that little flea-killing thing on our dog, but I feel really bad about it. We don't use pesticides either, and I don't even kill mosquitos. Unfortunately, people at school tend to make fun of me because of this - and not in a friendly way either. Oh well. It's summer now.
